Because he'd assume something must be wrong if I intruded on his professional life like that. He's busy during his work day, and I try not to bother him. I expected the same courtesy when I worked outside the home.

I once lost a consulting job because my crazy then-husband wouldn't stop calling and showing up unannounced. It was one of MANY reasons that he soon became an EX.

I don't show up at his job unexpectedly, although I don't think he would be mad if I did. But then again, he has nothing to hide, either - everyone knows that he is happily married. The only time I show up at his work (and he always knows in advance) is to bring him lunch, or to maybe pick up his paycheck to take to the bank. Other than that, I don't bother him at work. He works as a certified mechanic and licensed smog tech and is usually pretty busy during the day.

He was busy working. You're trying to mix his professional and personal life, and most guys don't appreciate that. He had to stop whatever he was doing and pay attention to you, and it probably wasn't appropriate to do that when you showed up unexpectedly. That's the most likely explanation. His having an affair with someone in the office, or not wanting someone in the office to realize he is married is rather far fetched, unless you just completely don't trust your husband. But if you don't, then why are you married to him?

There are a number of reasons.
Hopefully it isn't because he's cheating or making passes towards someone that doesn't know he's married
Others take it more like you don't trust them
Some don't like it because it's unprofessional or the boss might say something.

If you don't have any other suspicions then next time call him.

He may have had plans and had to cancel a lunch meeting

1. Because he doesn't want someone there to know that he's married.

2. Because he is hiding something from you related to work.

3. Because he is having an affair with someone at work.

4. Because you didn't call and he is too busy to see you.

5. Because he might think you're trying to spy on him.

6. Because it's against company policies to have personal visits.

Well, if personal time was an issue, then it might be frowned upon. Some employers don't like for the time that they are paying their workers to work being filled up with family visits and phone calls. Otherwise, could it be that you and your hubby need to work some things out.

Jobs are jobs and usually aren't on the game board of life where visitation rights are allowed unannounced. See it's like this, if you don't respect him you'll do whatever you want to do, just like the spoiled brat that you are... and you will push him too far and loose him.... Or am I wrong here?

Because he is being bad. My husband is not that way, I could surprise him at any time, it would be fine (so I don't bother LOL) I go to his work and have lunch every chance I get, plus attend many functions with his co-workers.

Maybe because he may get in trouble on his job for it. My husband really would not mind though. I think he might like it lol!

Some times other guys will tease another guy
(like the wife controls him) with remarks like
when is your ball and chain checking on you again?

or some guys feel like they have a nagging wife if she makes any kind of habit out of it
