Political climate has to do with the additude of the people towards certain issues. I.E. The political climate amongst liberals towards the war, is to defy the president, embolden the enemy, bring the troops home so the enemy can follow. Very little thought is given to the consequences of pulling out before victory is proclaimed, but this is what democrats are all about.

The political climate towards the end of the nineteenth century was transitioning from a Revolutionary government to a Republic. The old bureauacracy's needed to be dismantled before new ones were formed. This was so because the old guard needed to be dismissed, so the new guard could bring in fresh blood to run things under a new and formal government..

Old admirals and generals were retired, and many not by choice, so there influence didn't carry over to the new constitutional government. Old habits die hard, and president Adams needed his alignment of people instead of the old guard. A new US navy was formed under his watch and the Continental navy was disbanned, the same holds true with the Continental Marines that was disbanned about the same time.

This was a period when the US was looking within, even though problems were brewing in the middle east because of pirates demanding ransoms in order for US ships to sail the Mediterranean.

I'll tell you what I believe political climate is, but if you want to know what it is during that era, you'll have to look it up yourself.

To me, political climate is the way the winds are blowing politically. For instance, the climate in the years after Clinton was found to be having affairs started favoring the republicans, there was a conservative surge in voter outcome not long after. That's what produced so many republican votes, also possibly to help Bush win his first election.

So the political climate is a lot like the physical climate, such as how hostile people are to a certain party or person, or how warm they are to someone or a certain way of living, politically speaking.

Now all you have to do is do a bit of research of that time frame and see how people were voting or looking at who was in power at the time. Good luck!

The climate is a lot different now because of global warming. You'd think that warm weather would make people nicer but it doesn't seem to be working.

Sorry couldn't resist.

Political climate is the same thing as political environment or political scene.
Politics have gotten mean because it is full of corruption on both sides. Polarizing positions get more attention than consensus building ones and everyone knows politicians are whores for money and attention.
