I am a strong advocate of homeschooling. These days, so much information is readily available on the Internet, so even if the child's parents don't know everything about various subjects, the child can learn independently. I've read numerous studies that reveal that homeschooled children score higher on standardized tests than do children who receive a "formal" education. The social aspects of public schooling are so overrated. Study after study has shown that homeschooled children are also more well-adjusted and have higher self-esteem.
But if you want to expose your children to humanity at its worst -- and take a chance that your children will become psychologically impaired -- do what my parents did with me and send them to public school. The gauntlet awaits them.

i'd say 50 50 b/c the real world is nothing like homeschooling, there are a whole bunch of other people you will have to deal with. imagine going from homeschooling straight to college? you'd be really confused. also i think alot of people use homeschooling to control what their child learns in a negative way. but school is hell most of the time; there are mean teachers and distractions and you end up hating learning.

I homeschooled all four of my kids, and when they started going to a public school the school asked me 'where they were' ... I told them that they were 'on the money a third of the time, ahead a third of the time, and behind a third of the time. ALL of them were tested and placed in HONORS and GIFTED classes ... so I think Homeschooling is fine, if the PARENT IS QUALIFIED TO TEACH IT, and if the 'school system' can help with 'supplies' like books, that's even better.

There are NO easy answers to this question.
How old are these children?
Do they have children their own age to play with in their neighborhood?
How will the learning be different between public school and home?
If they are home schooled will you be able to teach them how to deal with social situations?
Will they be able to learn everyone does NOT live by the Golden Rule and how they should or will react?
As you can probably tell I am for public schooling, because I think there is MUCH more to learn than reading, writing and arithmetic. I feel if children are kept from being around those their age and away from difficult situations they are being cheated on learning how to deal with the real world. The younger they learn these things the better off they and the rest of us will be. Let's let our children set a good example for the children who do not learn how to be GOOD neighbors by us teaching them how we want them to act in difficult times.

100% against. It is just a parent's way to control what his or her child learns. It is a bad start for a child because it doesn't provide any kind of social life. If you don't like public school then try private. It's the best way to ensure that your child is learning at the same rate as others their age

Against. I think kids should be brought up in a "public school environment", to learn the social skills and about the different personalities out there you will deal with in life.

I like the idea of homeschooling for kids, but it does limit their social life.

For, as long as it's done right. As long as the kid is in home school for the right reasons, as long as they do their work, are on par (or above) grade level, and as long as they have proper opportunities to interact with peers, there's no problem with it.
It's not hard to homeschool kids the right way, but it's also very easy to do it wrong.

It depends, if your parents are highly intelligent and can teach you everything you need to know then I would say homeschooling is better because you are getting that one on one student-teacher interaction. And another benefit your parents are apart of your schooling.
