I am a woman and I can park with ease. I have driven several different sized cars and have no problem. My friends however, all admit they can't reverse or park. I would be interested to know how many women have this problem.

I am a woman and I have two daughter's. None of us have any problems with parking. I find that strange that some do as this is usually part of the driver's exam. I remember when I first started driving I was a little apprehensive about parallel parking but I have since mastered the tecnique to a "T".

I cannot believe that nobody actually knows the answer to this.

It is a scientifically proven phenomenon that women - in general - are less able to carry out tasks that require a high level of spatial awareness than men.

This is because the areas of the brain which deal with different tasks tends to be differently developped in the different genders. Women tend to have better communication skills, men tend to be better with spatial awareness.

Of course, this is a sweeping generalisation and there are other factors to be taken into consideration - e.g. even somebody with very poor spatial awareness can develop their skill with enough practice to become a perfectly competent car parker.

Furthermore, there are several cases where a female may be better than a male, either because their brain activity is atypical, or due to the level of practice experienced by each individual.

My wife and I both have atypical gender traits in this way - she is excellent at parking and seems to have an in-built GPS system in her head, whereas I prefer to walk an extra half mile to get a parking space big enough for six cars and will then get lost on my way back - but I can multi-task and keep my temper in an argument...

I dont have any problem parking. Like many others who answered this question, I prefer to reverse park, i find it a lot easier. Whatever size car I have had doesnt and hasnt made a difference as to my parking ability.

But i must say, my present car has city steering, steering which is more sensitive and lighter than normal power steering, and wow, i can now get in places others cars would struggle to park in.

I drive an Excursion... park with ease, forward and/or reverse!! My pet peeve... someone that cant determine how wide or long the vehicle is....

I once went and test drove a Suburban and pulled it back into the parking lot and the Salesman actually said just pull it up and I will park it for you "because I know it is hard to back in a large vehicle". My husband in the backseat laughed and said "your said that to the wrong person". I of course pulled up and backed in w ease...

My favorite unskilled driver on the road...the one in traffic that pulls half the length of their car between a car and the curb and stops, its as if they think the as# of the car of fatter than the front end, and actually sit there waiting for the traffic to pull up....If the front end fits, so does the back end, unless a dully!!! LOL!!! Drive on woman!!!

I can reverse like a pro and park fine, except when it comes to parallell parking on one side then disaster strikes. Also, if someone criticises my driving then I get a bit silly too! To be honest, most of the men I've met can park, but can't reverse for toffee (like reversing down a single track road)

I can reverse park easily, but I can't park forwards into a car parking space!!! I have no idea why! Also I can only parallel park if the space is about double the size of my car!!

I, personally, have never had a problem parking or driving in reverse. Granted, I've only had my license for a little over a year. I don't know if it's a girl thing or not though. My girlfriends in high school were all younger so I never talked to them about driving... I was also taught to drive mainly by my dad. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I'm brilliant at parking. I've driven every size of vechicle except a HGV, have driven buses, removal vans, cars with trailers; I learned to park properly about twenty years ago, and can park anything in any parking spot. I know a lot of women who can't park well; they need a whole field to park in!

I can reverse park and find parking no issue. I think its because a lot of people don't learn properly. I've also heard that women can't read maps well (which is another generalisation) I also drive a large family car ;)

Hi!

I'm with Amanda P on this one!!

I can park brilliantly and aways prefer to reverse park whenever possible. It's much easier to reverse into a space than to have to reverse out of one.

I drive a 7 seater and just love seeing the look on some men's faces when I reverse perfectly into what looks like an impossibly small space!!

Ha, ha, ha!!
