It seems like something is expanding under there but I don't know what. I thought it was just the hardwood floor warping b/c there was a leak from my refrigerator but now the leak has been plugged but whatever is underneath the hardwood floor keeps expanding. Any ideas of what to do would be helpful, thanks.

You could have an insurance claim on your hands. The refrigerator leak is the culprit and the damage is done. As has been stated, the moisture has swollen (expanded) the wood to the point where it has no place to expand laterally so it can only expand upward. The damaged area will have to be removed andreplaced.

Wood is like a sponge and it cant get wet otherwise it will warp, You cant fix it. Needs to be resanded and finished after it dries out.My brother is wood flooring contractor in Michigan and ive seen this before.

water damage would cause this to happen- you might need to pull up some of the floor to see what is going on- it will also depend on if your house is built on a slab (concrete) or piers- and if your floor is actually 'hardwood' or layered wood -good luck-
