norton is now part of the google pack and it is free to keep!
I was stuck with norton '97 as I had bought it but tonight I reinstalled windows and found you can get the 2005 version which is a bit easier to use and it is free, just update the definition files after installing it. Beats all the others by a long shot here's the link http://google-earth-download.net
also get adaware while you are at it and you'll be 100% covered.
It's all part of the pack where you get earth.
hope it helped

Ad-aware can be downloaded from Download.com and is a pretty good program if the viruses you would expect come from browsing and normal internet use. If you want more comprehensive protection and are a Comcast Internet user, you can download McAffee Virus Protection FOR FREE. McAffee is quite possibly the BEST virus protection out there and it's nice to have it for free, if you use Comcast. If not, ignore that and get ad-aware. I've been using it for years and it works quite nicely for browser-related virus removal.

One of the best in the industry is Kaspersky, but it isn't free. BUT - AOL (yes, the former America OnLine) has a free version of Kaspersky called Active Virus Shield (AVS) that has all the accuracy of the full version, with not all the bells and whistles. Check it out here: http://www.activevirusshield.com

There is no AOL account needed and you don't get spam from them - it is free without a catch.

Zone Labs has a good FIREWALL that you can download for free. It's very simple to use and stays on top on everything when it comes to protecting your computer.

Go to cnet and download AVG. In fact click this and take it from the top of the list.(Scroll down)

And then click this and get the firewall, also from the top of the list.
