without any more details, the only thing i can suggest is make sure you took any tape off the cart, and make sure it is in the right slot.

Hi, and hope i can help. You might want to add more details to your question if this does not help.
First, as said before, if it is a new cartridge makes sure the tape is off the bottom of the cartridge.
How long has the printer been sitting since it last printed? A cartridge can dry up. In this case you may be able to get it flowing if it is a sponge type cartridge. Most are, but some Epsons are not. According to the manufacturer.they usually want you to try to use the printers "clean cartridge" option, either on the printer itself or by using the software. For the latter, if you have no printer listing in your Start menu, try going to Start>Settings>Printers and right. click on the printer you have installed and hit Properties. Then look around for the clean cartridge option. However, this can risk burning the cartridge (never run cartridges dry!!!).
What i do with my Lexmark Z22 (yes, it's old but very easy to refill) and what many others do is this. Take about 7 sheets of toilet tissue, and if you have a plastic throw away plate put the tissue in that or similar. Then heat about a 1/2 cup filtered (pref. distilled) water till it just begins to steam, and put the water over the tissue. The water should not be much above the tissue. Then take the cartridge out, and place the bottom on the hot wet soft tissue. Gently press it down (watch your hands) and let it soak it for about 15 minutes. Then gently pat any wet part of the bottom of the cartridge dry , and hold it up against the bottom where the ink comes out. If the ink is flowing then it should work. if not, it may be to dried up, or empty.
If there is some indication of ink, put the cartridge back into he printer and try printing. It will usually run you thru the install new cartridge program first.
If you think the cartridge is dry, then you can refill them for around 2.00 a piece (my calculations) by buying bulk ink and syringes at http://www.alotofthings.com. I have no affiliation with them, but have found them to be the best in price and offerings. If you do not want to go that route you can try some chain stores like Walgreens (around here) which refill them for you, or buy a smaller refill it. You can also look for empty cartridges you could fill on Ebay.com
