I'm thinking of creating some new Rangers. Any ideas on how to make some new Rangers? It's for a project, actually. Any suggestions?

Some of my classmates have already a few ideas of their own. Sherlock Holmes' descendant (modern, of course), a new breed of heroes (sorta like the JLA), horror movie characters, etc. I'm thinking a new breed of Power Rangers. I mean I'm willing to let my creative wheels turn every once in a while and get on my kid-like side. It's a two-fold question actually. Is it okay to "be a kid again" every once in a while? I mean everyone needs to reminisce about childhood memories. And the PR is a huge part of my childhood memories.

hi, your professor in creative writing wants you to invent new characters and you are stuck on an idea to revamp someone else's idea instead of your own? can I ask why? sounds like your friends are doing the same? your suggestions so far seem geared to helping you do this, or to help you do a superhero thingy.
the idea of "people watching" that someone said is a good one.
and that it should be your own.
also, it is cool to remember things; you sound almost like you are thinking you are old though?! not! allow yourself more "kid" memories before talking like that like the others said! :)
I think your prof is looking to see how many will be original and how many people "cheat" off another character and how many draw from their lives etc. just a thought.
why not just create a "character" you know, "joe shmoe" born: grew up hating certain things due to whatever and loving some one thing. and why and where he grew up. and you know what? a story using those characters might not be far off, it is what we had to do. and with that much done on your character? you have the story there: either the one that created his hatred/fear, or his love or what happened the day he realised what he loved could never be his? an idea as you asked

now I am confused... you want to know if it is okay to be a kid again? or to reminisce about being a kid? an original character, of any kind.....?
1) first you need to grow up all the way... then you may be a kid again......
2) "reminisce" yes... when we are old.. we should remember the important things... like how many much better shows there were....
3) although there are no original ideas technically... bet if you sat around and watched the world (instead of tv) you would find you can create something that is original to you for your class.... but if your heart is set on a new ranger? turn on toon disney at night, jetix, and watch power ranger spd, and then power rangers mystic force comes on.... I got forced into watching it with my kids... it sucks as much as it did when I was a KID.... and? now they have a school for them to all train to be power rangers... so? I guess you could just make up a new ranger by sending him to school? oh and just read wolf n dolphin? I do believe that mystic forces covers that gem idea.. I know they one of onyx at least....
sounds more like you want someone to do the work..... so you can copy it.........and not come up with something of your own?
I know... I am sorry... that was pretty mean... writer's block strikes all.... so suggestion? really, sit on a bench and watch some people and make up your own story for them based on what you see and your imagination? bet it would be really great.... remember? in creative writing class? teacher can't base a grade on whether it is good, plausible or even they like it.... or the person writing has talent or not.... only on whether you tried or not....on if you did the work...
but? if you just can't? won't? then go with the guy that is cheaply selling his bodily functions character there... it is at least one you can get some funny stuff outta

Yes, I get Krum! I totally think he's hot. I hated Percy in the books, although I understood why he was doing what he was doing. If I were married to him, there'd definitely be sparks, but not the good kind. :p Haha. I'll take Lupin! I always thought he was cool.

Go to a book store or local game shop or if you are lucky and pick up a copy of Mutants and Masterminds. Its a great role playing game that helps you create super hero type characters it may give you some ideas as you read through it with out making you feel like you have copied anything directly from someone.
Have fun and let yourself go. I am a few years older than you and I always like being a kid (although I will agree with the others you still are a kid)

You have a blank slate to create whatever type of character you want! Do something completely original; strike out on your own; be bold; cross new boundaries.
I'd only create new rangers if you were looking to tap into humor. Say making a ranger that can preform any bodily function on command -- you can have that idea for $5.00.

I would need to know more about the project. I assume you are talking Power Rangers? Give some more info and I will edit my answer accordingly.
Well, let's see. What sorta things have been done? Dinosaurs, animals, turbo vehicles, space something...
How about precious gems? You know, Emerald, Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire, Amethyst, Amber, Onyx etc... Ranger
