I asked a ? earlier about the gay community being represented in a poor light.
many agreed that this was true and that the majority were normal folks that just want to live in peace and be gay.
I just now read a question about why the gays were complaining about the Superbowl Snickers ad.
here is one answer...
I have talked this over will everyone I know and no one found it offensive. It was FUNNY. Groups like GLADD, the ACLU and PETA always go over board with protesting.
Don't blame this on the gay community put the blame where it belongs - GLADD.
So this brings me to my next question.
If groups like GLADD etc misrepresent the gay community why does the community allow it to happen?
If the poor public image of casual sex, drug use, and high risk promiscuity is an innaccurate view on True gay life then why does the supposed majority of repectable gays allow a minority to soil your public image?

It stands to reason that your complaints should not be directed at mainstream society but rather toward elements within your own community.
The general public see only what is portrayed in the public forum.
If this is innaccurate representation why are you not up in arms about this travesty?

Marie...what on earth does your answer have to do with my question?
Now I am feeling misrepresented.
This question is directly addressed to the gay community and I am puzzled by the lack of response from them.

Maybe the gay community thinks their time is better spent lobbying for gay marriage instead of protesting these organizations who misrepresent them. Perhaps they "choose their battles". Just a thought.

No person or group represents the "gay community" (I don't remember there being an "association" meeting, do you?). They just represent themselves and their own interests. Al Sharpton doesn't in any way represent Blacks. Nor does Nancy Pelosi represent women. They just have big mouths and get a lot of press. Just because someone calls a TV network and says he is a member of a group and was offended by something, that doesn't make him the official representative of that group, regardless of much his fat ego tells him he is or how much the news media try to stir up controversy by acknowledging that he is. I swear this is true: during the riots in Detroit in the '60's, a well-known news anchorman on a radio phone, hearing that a march had been called off, complained that he now didn't have a lead story for the evening news and asked (jokingly, of course) if one of the camera crew couldn't set fire to something or stand the street and shout, "All N...'s are dirty!" Don't believe anything you hear on the news or see in print.

I can tell you that I don't care what you are or who you love. Neither does God.
People are so threatened by differences.
I love you just the way you are. I think you're prefect, but then that does not matter. What matters is what you believe. Do you love you?
I can tell you I have had some wonderful gay friends. They are bright and wonderful people.
Maybe those true respectable gays are comfortable and do not have a need to change the minority.

I would guess that possibly, those who object, don't really know how to go about protesting. The media is the powerhouse, the place to get heard, but how do you get them to let you speak?? I face the same problem as a Christian. Everytime there is someone on tv calling themselves a Christian, they are so far off from what I believe that it makes me mad. But I don't know how to stop what the media decides to report on.
Also, the representation in tv and movies is often off base. Stereotypes have been created that are offensive to the real people. I don't know how to change that, do you?

You know.....this just isn't a big deal to us. That's why nobody really cares to answer the question.
GLADD does not represent me, my partner or our adopted daughters.
Because you are straight, do you feel misrepresented by http://www.godhatesfags.com
....or Ann Coulter.....or Ted Haggart....or Focus on the Family?
The commercial was HILARIOUS.
Our daughters totally cracked up, and so did we.
If you really think about it, that commercial was a total Bash on straight, homophobic men.

I thought the commercial was kind of offensive, but I wouldn't go so far as to protest it. I just wish that businesses had better taste. I guess it's just one more reason for gay men not to eat candy bars!

WHAT DO YOU MEAN live in Peace and be gay?
Everyone should live in Peaceand have some close friends and realtives as well who are homosexual, they know I don't agree with this behaviour yet I care for them and would help them out in a pinch.
I think Society is better off to have Morality a Great Mother and Father to influence and brig a helath child into this world..
Think of what makes people want to be together..
When a woman ovulates she wants sex which enables procreation Men want to plant there seed to keep his lineage going these are NATURAL and NORMAL
Anal Sex is pure lust and serves no other purpose...
Missionary Sex is an act that expresses love between Men and Women other acts are lustful...
