get a three prong cord, and a pipe clamp and about 6' of 14ga wire from your local hardware store. after you hook the cord up to the 2 hot legs and the common you can plug it into the old outlet. then attach a piece of 14ga wire to a screw on the back of the dryer cabinet, and then run it to the cold water pipe for the washer and clamp it to the pipe. that's how it was always done in the past. otherwise you will need an electrician to run a new 4 wire cable to the dryer location and install a new outlet box. good luck, hope this helps.

Where do you live! Typically u need 2-110volt lines and the third SHOULD be grounded, 3-wires. A PIGTAIL should be ready available at any Home store. If your not sure of the configuration of the plug draw a picture before u go. Picture is worth a thousand words. The wire colors should be 2-black and 1-green.
GOOD LUCK. Turn power off first. If this is not the case run a new wire and have done right.

Run a separate #8 or #10 wire from the ground lug in the machine to a metal water pipe with a grounding clamp (available from the hardware store or other good ground. If the receptacle is attached to metal conduit, that should be a pretty good ground. Lot's of folks don't use the grounding wire as older machines didn't have them. It's a bit safer to install it.

If you have a 110 outlet, does the dryer run on 110? A 110 socket is connected to a 110 line, like a lamp is. Most dryers run on 220, and must have a 220 socket.

You need an adapter. You should be able to get one at the hardware store. See the link
