Goalgrrl, I live here in Ann Arbor, where my son was brainwashed with "Hail to the Victors" since he was in pre-school and "Go Blue" banners are part of the decor in our supermarkets. I'm not a native Michigander, so I had no such loyalties, but I also wasn't aware of what the other state colleges were like. So when he got his heart set on going to the UofM, I was 100% behind him. He even fell more in love with the college when we went on the campus tour. He was convinced it was HIS dream school.
But this was back around Y2K, and even with an SAT of 1370, high AP scores in Chem, Physics and Calculus, etc, he was wait-listed under UofM's old application system. I was totally devastated. However, by the time we got the final decision of no openings, we had long since had a chance to tour Michigan State and he was fine with going there. In fact, given how much the locals trash MSU, the actual campus looked positively stunning in comparison to what he had imagined.
By the time he graduated MSU, he was utterly grateful that UofM had turned him down. (He had some other colorful language to add concerning how he might have turned into an unpleasant body part.) He loved MSU so much that he hated to leave, having been a 9-semester member of the bands. Now, with his high-powered degree in chemical engineering, he's earning big bucks. (Unfortunately, a job in Madison paid less, as he would have preferred to live there compared to his current town.)
My daughter is attending college out-of-state (thanks to arts scholarships), having transferred from yet another state, and Linkin is right: people drink at every college. My daughter is one of the ones who doesn't, so Linkin is also right that you can opt out of the drinking scene.
So, as you can imagine, I vote for not going into debt, as you actually haven't made a valid case for needing to attend the UofM. Being an excellent student means that you stand a good chance of getting really nice scholarships at any of the other Big Ten schools, including Wisconsin. And being tops in your university program also means gaining access to some nice extra perks, such as honors programs, research opportunities, etc, which will make you stand out with future employers. UofW can be a dream school, too, if you only give it a chance.
GO BADGERS! BEAT THE WOLVERINES!

optimistically Michigan State. indexed right here are my 2 completely unscientific the clarification why: a million. coach D'Antonio is out of the wellbeing center. He hopes to be in Ann Arbor. have been given any concept what a improve that would desire to offer to the Spartans? 2. In 1999 I have been given a sparkling washing device & dryer. I had an rather undesirable chilly. Michigan State beat Michigan. We have been given a sparkling washeer & dryer this week I even have an rather undesirable chilly. i'm hoping this performs out. In all seriousness, if the Spartan protection (this is a few distance greater effective than Michigan's) can contain Denard a minimum of a tiny bit the Spartans have a guess. If the Wolverines can rigidity turnovers, they have a guess. I in simple terms desire it is nice, sparkling interest with a exact score.

People drink at every college. Just cuz they do doesn't mean you have to.
What's the price difference? It's tough. Wisconsin isn't a bad academic school. Especially if you stay in-state. Michigan is one of the top 3 public schools in the country though. Plus, edu loans tend to have pretty good terms. I pay about $200/mo for about $30,000 in loans. That's not too bad. My wife has about $100K, and she only pays a little over $400 cuz they let her stretch it out to 30 years.
