open all windows. Wipe down all hard surfaces and launder curtains and other items that may hold the odor. After all of this, light a scented candle.

Wash the curtains. Wipe down the walls with a mild detergent. Sears makes a wall cleaning product that is ideal, its used prior to painting, but will be perfect.

Wipe down your cabinets with an appropriate cleaner. If they are wood, use Murphy's Oil Soap and follow the instructions for woodwork. If they are laminate, Formula 409 is just fine.

Basically you need to get all of the surfaces cleaned.

clean the inside of the microwave with lemon juice, and leave some in a bowl there for a few days. this will help the odor inside the microwave only.
