Poverty is the biggest problem of the world. Biggest issue is nationalism which is responsible for two world wars and other horrible events including terrorism.

The biggest problem that a (global community) would have to deal with would be a combination of poverty, war and terrorism; because of the economic resources that are concerned with those three things, can also be used towards the eventual maintenance towards the recovery of those three things. With the help of understanding that before we can recognize our biggest problems we need to help overcome these three things.

I agree with science_geek. The biggest problem is the lack of love for our neighbours!

None of us is perfect! That's why it is hypocratical to judge others before correcting our own mistakes. Of course it is easier (and makes US feel better!) to blame the "others" for things gone wrong.

But that is also the reason for all the hate and war mongering in the world, no matter where you look.

It would be nice and beneficial to all if WE could admit our own failures, and understand that the "others" are also only human. Then we may be able to forgive wrongs that are being done and in the process can have forgiveness for our own failings.

As someone put it:
To love (as in: to act with compassion and forgiveness toward others) is the answer - whatever the question!

Global warming. This could ruin the whole planet! As the temperature rises around the world, the ice glaciers at the North and South Pole melt and dump millions of tons of water into the oceans. All of this extra water could mean that some states in the U.S. and in other countries around the world could go under water. Gotta get rid of some of those carbon dioxide emissions to prevent this.

I think that uncontrolled, burgeoning population is the biggest problem in the world today. It is the root cause of global warming, famine, pollution, poverty, materialism, aggressive behaviors and general antagonism. It is also one of the root causes of warfare when countries become over-crowded to such a degree that expansion of territory is fought over.

pollution - within the year 2200 most of the polar ice caps will have melted and the oceans risen - meaning doom for the 2.5 billion people who live within 50-100 miles of the ocean and the air will be very toxic - killing many plants and animals and causing erratic weather patterns (like The Day after Tomorrow)

Human population growth...grows like bacteria in a Petri dish...consumes the resources...system crashes...system recovers in 10,000-15,000 years, and starts all over again.

Disease is natures clearing house...to make room for the next generation, because no one dies a natural death...it alll comes from some sort of disease.
