my friend was jumpstarting me and put the cables backwards on their car for about 20 seconds and their car was running. they started it about 5 times after that then it wouldnt start anymore could that be because of connecting the cable backwards or another problem. it started again after jumpstarting it.

Dont really know what you mean but if by "backwards" you mean connecting the wrong terminals, that is negative for positive, then you may have blown the alternator. check your alternator to see if it is charging.

u probably fried your computer. When you jump a car backwards the charge goes the opposite way which will make it blow. Since you said it started a few times after more than likely you need to go all the way through your wiring harness it probably blew out in the middle of wire. It will be black from the burn mark replace that wire and you should be fine.

I would buy a new battery and make sure the alternator is charging between 13-16 volts .

You were litterally draining your battery not charging it. It would be wise as they said to check teh battery and charging system. Autozone near me doe sit for free with both stull in the car.

Your friend fried his battery and could've damaged yours too.. This is dangerous as connecting them wrong could make the battery explode.

the coloration don,t count see you later as you hook constructive to constructive and adverse to adverse ! like you are able to take a black end and hook it to the constructive in case you want to yet the different end has to flow on the constructive on the different battery ! like i reported the coloration don,t count !
