there's racism towards EVERYONE!!! There's racism towards ethnic groups too!!! Guys, we are all on one giant rock in space!!!cant we learn to love one another? people are too stupid to look deeper than skin tone and it sux because there are great people who are looked over strictly because of the color of their skin

It's because people unfortunately are racist. Sometimes they're racist and don't even know it. It's passed down from generations or it's learned or taught or it's simply about people being uneducated. Racism, Class-ism, and Sexism are all major problems in society. Putting people into categories starts as far back as elementary school...labeling certain children as "gifted" or having certain standards of learning that just isn't feasible forr all children. Not every person learns in the same way in the same amount of time...but immediately if you are held back a year there's a stigma that goes with that. I too, am appalled by some of the questions and answers on here. Some people think they are being cute or funny (which it is neither) but others are probably serious...and that's the scariest realization fo all. But i'm with you on what you've said above. We do need to stop this cycle.

I think it is because we are all, in some way and to some degree, biased and even bigoted to at least some extent. In today's "politically correct" world, there are so many things (some legitimate ands others not) that a person would like to say but is afraid to for fear of repercussions.
So they resort to the anonymity of the internet to express thoughts they cannot otherwise express. I really believe if most people could just say what they think in public, there would be more incorrectness in open society and much less needed to be spewed forth on various boards.
Just a warped thought.

There is a difference between racism and dislike for certain ethnic communities. I think that most of what you think is racism is actually a mixture of prejudice and dislike for a certain group of people because of the actions, opinions, behaviors, etc. e.g., I have a fascination with Mexican culture and people, but I really do not like illegal immigrants coming here from Mexico. If I make a statement against illegal immigrants, which happen to mostly be from Mexico, it has nothing to do with not liking Mexicans.
Racism means holding a belief that ethnic differences hold evidence of superiority of one ethnicity over another.

I just joined Yahoo Answers and I have yet to go through on epage on the Cultures & Groups Board without encountering a racist question. People tend to hide behind the internet to express their hatred towards others. Whoever thinks racism is dead clearly hasn't been on Yahoo Answers.

There is racism and intolerance on yahoo answers because there is racism and intolerance in society... it's a crappy, unfortunate mess that doesn't seem like it will have any immediate end.
Personally I blame religion mostly for advocating and perpetuating hatred and intolerance, though nationalism and other factors apply as well.

I agree! People should just like us for our personality and not dislike us because of skin color,background, or religion! I'm discused when I see somone treat someone like that. If everyone is treated equal then life would flow better. More people would be friends and have a better time.

Probably there is so much racism because people who start to say mean things about races gets spread out and people who hear these things will believe them and spread it even more.So the mean things might have spreaded here.

Ok, so we dont like what the world has become, that is it. before America, we all lived in our space, then everybody wanted to mix and have freedom and all that crap, most of the countries were happy, we gave blacks, gays, jews, jehovah witnesses and all that crap rights, they abuse of them. We dont like it, I predict another holocaust by the end of this century.

I haven't really witnessed any racism here. However, I have seen a lot of intolerance towards religion and gays. I don't know what happened to "Treat others how you would like to be treated". We're all human no matter what race, religion or creed we are. When people treat others like animals it makes them the real animals.
