Hi! I'm just over 34 weeks with my first and for the past day or two, I have felt, what can only be described as though I have been kicked 'down under'. The aching/bruised pain is constant but is relieved when I am still or lying down. However, any sort of movement involving my hips or pelvis is a nightmare and I have officially started to waddle! I have been feeling braxton his for a while now, so no change there. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Sorry hun, nothing you can do about the waddle. That'll stay until your baby is born. Then you'll shuffle ;) At least for the first week.

The aching is probably your baby resting on your pelvis. She's getting in position and her head is right there. Try changing your positions see if anyhting helps. I swear by my excersize ball...Just sitting there rocking eased my hips and pelvis when my nearly ten pound son was moving into position. OUCH!!

Good Luck, your almost done!

That feeling is most likely do to the baby dropping, or "lightening" it's when the baby drops into your pelvis. More pressure, more stress agains tyour hips and you feel like a waddling duck. It's your body getting ready for labor, and will contunie I hate to say until delivery. Try not to twist or bend, make slow gentle movements when you get up. Warm baths help, so do heating pads. Get your feet up as much as you can to get that pressure off your joints, and when you sleep if youcan and if it's comfortable for you sleep with a pillow between your legs, that helps too for relief.
You only have a few more weeks to go, sorry to say that this is something that happens, but try a bath, heating pad, get your feet up as much as you can. It'll be over soon.
Good Luck, Congrats!

Hi, I am 34 weeks +5 days and I am experiencing the same thing right now. This is my third child and I have gone through this with every pregnancy. I know it sounds crazy but for me the best thing has been to get up and walk when this happens, it seems to hurt worse when I don't get any exercise at all. I also sleep with a pillow propping my belly up and a pillow between my legs.
I know it sucks, I am right there with you but it will be done soon, it sounds like you are getting really close!
Take care and best of luck!

Mom of a 4 year old and an 18 month old.

sometimes the bruising/pain feeling is due to the pelvis expanding getting ready for labor. It is natural. It also depends on how big you have gotten and how big is the baby. The pelvic bone expands and pushes forward. It feels like you described, a kick "down under", sometimes you might even think you have fractured your pelvic bone becuase it seems like that type of hurting. Good luck, but to be on the safe side call your doctor or mention it on your next visit.

your not far off now i would say your baby will be here within the next week and a half, the discomfort and pressure you are feeling is just because your baby has dropped down into your cervix in preparation for labour. As for trying to get comfortable, when you are sitting down dont sit straight up sit so you are on an angel on the chair and put a pillow in the space behind your back, this should help a bit i hope. Congrats soon you are going to be holding your little one!

There is really nothing you can do about it, and it does get really painful. I know. With my 3rd baby I was in so much pain at 32 weeks, that I could hardly move. Even sitting or laying down hurt for me though. Everytime the baby would move, it was excruciating. Ask your doctor about it. I did end up having my baby by 34 weeks, so that is why I am saying to check with your doctor. BUT it is also normal to get those pains too.

It sounds to me as though the baby has "dropped" getting ready for labor...this can happen any time after 32 weeks. I would say just get your things together and be prepared.
Good luck
