I think it is.
I mean sure the U.S will occasionally arrest someone who's innocent and they're tortured for a few months, and I know this is bad, but it's better safe than sorry.
Also, if evidence surfaces that they're innocent, then they get released.
Bush supports torture and I'm behind him on that. What would happen if there was a threat of an attack tomorrow and you desperately needed the information? The bottom line is, torture is the right thing to do.
Liberal communists who are against this say that the information that you get from torture tends to not be that accurate because if you torture someone for long enough, you can get them to confess to anything you would like them to, even if it's not true.
Once, again though, it comes down to "better safe than sorry."

I am once again astounded at the answers you got saying torture is fine . What on the face of this earth makes you think for one minute that those means are justified . What do you call the kid who picks on the little guy and takes his lunch money .
If I accepted your thinking no one would be safe from me . Better I have it then them . Weaklings get what they deserve . Kill or be killed . Well I want you to know that if I could be persuaded that taking my fist and beating another human being would get me anything of value then what prevents me from taking what ever i want .
Who is the person that is able to torture another human for any reason . To wrongs never have made a right . And for Christians vengeance is mine .Have we not advanced past the point of torture in this modern world . Has all the trading and bargains for oil lead to enough death already . Have we learned nothing . We armed and taught BIn laden and Saddam for the same basic reason . Control over the oil and the region . This has caused nothing but death and adding to it with torture is just not acceptable . You will , if there is a god ,face his wrath .Thats an eternity if my mind is not playing tricks on me . Or just purgatory and some groveling for Catholics .
This from a liberal commie who loves the terrorists . Right like anyone would agree that killing people is right . Adding to it is not right .Adding torture is not right ,regardless of what they may have or may still do . Some things are just wrong and torture is one of them . How could anyone support torture ? And by the way Under no circumstance would I at this point torture anyone no matter what . Now I would through my self on a terrorist to absorb the explosion if I was around at the time and had the chance . This I would do for all mankind even those who support torture . This makes me so much better then you if there is a God he will certainly want me over you .
I noticed that the oppressed people on here all said no to torture . while those who are part and parcel of the system support it .
I am beginning to think that a plague that reduces the population to a million or so people is needed . Then we can respect life again . With so many greedy ,selfish, murderous people it is hard to see the descent people among us . Life is cheapened by this mentality and no wonder torture is making a comeback .

Now, lets us just say that there was no Rules of Engagement, and this was a choice. Torture gives you nothing but fear itself. Yes, maybe it would get you information you need to help your country. At first. Then people will be way to afraid to even come forth with evidence that they may have received or heard of because they are afraid the US would torture them for more information...what would happen then? Would we torture the informant?
Same goes if they are innocent. I could say that my next door neighbor is a terrorist, and the FBI would go interrogate and torture him, but what if I just said that because his dog pissed on my lawn? Or he was white and I'm black? or vice versa? It would bring too much controtrary to even begin to think about "fair" torture. In the United States we believe in Innocent until proven guilty. And there are morales by which people follow. Torture is the extra leap into infinity that we as a country and a whole don't need.

If we are going to call ourselves a democracy and land of the Freedom loving people, then torture should NEVER be used. If we do use torture, then we should never be allowed to call ourselves freedom loving or a democracy ever again. It would just be another big lie.
So, the answer is, I'm totally against torture, because I love freedom and I love the fact that democracy would mean a respect for human rights.

the U. S. has in hardship-free words water-boarded about 4 people contained in the previous one hundred years. it really is not like that is a hardship-loose journey. it really is even arguable if that water-boarding is torture. in spite of each thing, trainees in some protection rigidity amenities automatically undergo it for education. both part make valid factors. contained in the first quarter of 2010, even the Obama administration investigators record quietly conceded that no torture were happening at GITMO. imagine you've a baby. Yeah, murder is okay too. We should murder everyone in America and that way there would be nobody for the terrorists to attack. Is this a serious question?
Jack Bauer is coool and he tortures people on 24 all the time, so it must be okay.

I should call the Department of Homeland Security and claim I saw you in your window stuffing nails and installing wires into a thermal coat.
Will you still think better safe than sorry when they torture you? Or is it OK because they just do it to brown-skinned people?

before my answer, I beg your pardon for my very bad english, but I'm french.
every one knows some cases of torture, and we heard about torture in guantanamo and secret jails of CIA !
and in "israël" torture is a legal way to do, accepted by the Court . Shame on every state torturing humans.
- in guantanamo, have you read the testimony of samir al Hajj, he was working for al jazeera... ? you felle sick just with tese words so horrible
- in zionist jails, it's well known that the "authorities" are torturing men, but they do the worst on children and women : beting them,
raping them...
we can't accept such events.
thanks.
