Im building a gaming pc and i need to know if i should amd or intel and what socket?

I would go for a Core 2 Duo 2.13 ghz conroe, because it is crazy great for over clocking. ( is a socket LGA 775, by the way)
However this is just personal opinion, its which one you like better.
I am also building one, and it is 1050 dollars, and kicks but.

as anybody would say, AMD was better for gaming, since it was competing with the previous generation of successful processor called Pentium 4. Amd came with a new architecture and proved better on gaming. Then came out the Dual core battle and Intel used 2 of the same Pentium 4 processors on their Pentium D line up, which is why it was still slower and less performing than in some ways comparing to AMD Dual Core cpus.

but intel wanting the glory back, just let out the beast called Core2 Duo, which is designed new from inside out in a whole new architecture, who uses less power and produces less heat, leaving a lot more headroom for overclocking and its exactly why all the pros r in love with Core2 Duo.

want to do gaming ? sure u could try AMD x 2 series.

want to do better gaming and video editing, with the processor that owns the crown and will put your application and games into dusts, and say, "i ain't getting enough yet", then go for Core2 Duo definitely. Its a Socket T ( in other words LGA 775 )

Intel Core2Duo on a LGA775 socket. Or if your budget allows, a quad. But either way, right now Intel owns the performance prize.
