Apart from in parks or fields that are set aside for the purpose, I would agree with you

Yes , Your,e right without a Doubt-- But the curious thing is it always seems to be the more Unruly Dogs with the more "Smart **** " "Mr Tough Guy" Owners whose dogs are are seldom on a Lead and never under proper control-- Whereas well behaved Dogs with owners who are Obviously Decent , Responsible Folk are always on a Lead and no Problem to anyone Wonder Why ?????

I find the prospect of not being able to let a dog off a lead a bit OTT. In streets yes, but there should be facilities for dog owners to exercise their pets....if you class a field or park as a public place, the answer is an emphatic no.

Definitely not .Dogs need exercise and have to run about.
All dogs should be under control in public places and that does not necessarily mean on a lead.
Have you ever watched sheepdog trials . These dogs are under control and surprise surprise they have no leads attached to them.
I have two dogs one is often off the lead if it is safe to do so (Sheepdog) and the other is put onto the lead when I see other people nearby ( not because she is aggressive but because she is too friendly and walks up to everyone to get tickled. I know that some people can be scared of dogs hence the reason she gets put on a lead.
As regards the comments about dog poo .. I carry nappy bags and the poo always gets lifted
The sheepdog was trained by us from a pup and always does her business in our garden anyway in fact she does her business in our garden even after a walk. So it shows you what
dogs can be like if trained properly. Isn't it a shame the human race couldn't be the same.
As for cats....... who cleans up their poo and keeps them on leads if you know send them round to my house as I could do with them cleaning up the cat crap in my garden fro all the neighbours cats who wander about without anyone complaining, even though cat crap is just as dangerous to kids health.
Finally My dogs are wormed every 3 months .

Keep the dog under control. If you need a lead to do this, then fine. The same should apply to humans, especially some of the kids I encounter!

I am a dog owner and I always keep my dog on a lead when in public. I let him off to have a run obviously, but in fields and woods. My dog is a cocker spaniel and I would not class him as dangerous! however, I always appreciate that other people are scared of dogs or simply do not like them and I totally respect that. I believe that ALL dogs should be muzzled in public - this would stop attacks on the public and other dogs (my dog has been savaged twice by other dogs). I always pick up poo - people who don't are vile.

Yes they should be on a leash at all time when in public. Some people and some little kids get afraid if they see a big dog running towards them. My town has a leash free park, and you can take the dog there and let them run around with other dogs.

No... for a start most dogs aren't the devils in fur the UK press would have you believe and deserve the chance to run, play and socialise. Besides, I still like to be amused by calling "Monty, Max!" and seeing two completely strange dogs appear by my side whilst my own Monty and Max totally ignore me until they feel like strolling over!
