We moved to Birmingham from Chicago. I practically had to force my wife onto the plane when I flew down for the job interview.
Guess what? It was nothing like what we expected. The scenery is beautiful, the people are gracious and generous, there's a surprisingly cosmopolitan scene in places such as Birmingham, lots of great restaurants, and a terrific place to raise kids.
Now, whenever I suggest moving back up North, my wife won't hear of it. So I guess we like Alabama a great deal.
