I think so. Look what happened here in the US - 9/11 caused temporary insanity, and allowed the far right warmongers to gain too much control.

The US should only attack Iran if it becomes an imminent threat.
By imminent I mean - 1 they have demonstrable weapons capability to assault US Interests, 2 they are in the process of mobilizing those assets, and 3 there are no diplomatic options left.
That being said, such an attack would definitely boost the popularity of their president. All such attacks usually unify a country - especially a pseudo-democracy like Iran, where the government enjoys widespread, if not majority, support.

I pray that Bush gets out of office before he invades Iran. That would be a total disaster.
I can't read the article because I'm at work. Does it say that Ahmadinejad's popularity would rise in Iran if we invaded? That's common sense. Where else would his popularity go up?

Yes. I had heard a while ago that this was the case, and most likely the Iranians will remove Ahmadinejad. I have no confidence that Bush will wait this out, however.

I would be much more concerned with the loss of life. I would also be concerned with the inevitable retaliation that would follow, retaliation that would include terrorist attacks within the US.

Before politics and frontiers there are people ! and most of them don't even care for politics.
Whenever you interact with many cultures .. and have friends in many countries... politics simply disapears !
