I have a 2002 Accord EX with 90k miles. I need to replace the transmission - is this typical for Hondas at 90k miles?! I had my own shop do the work since it's about $600 cheaper than the Honda dealership. I've filed a complaint with Honda Customer Care for a reimbursement. Does anyone have experience with this? What are my chances of getting reimbursed?

I got transmission problem for my 02 accord (70k miles) also. I did some research. Honda Corp. will only give transmission coverage for the 1998- 2001 Honda Accords.

chances for reinbursment: 0 out of 1

Homeboy LES is right on the money. Adjustable at the pedal. And the real adjustment or EXact travel the pedal goes before it feels tension or engage ment is 1/4 to 1/2 inch of "play". Kick some a$$ hondas are great cars. They go together and come apart like a jigsaw puzzle. And I too am an -EX honda tech "at a dealer"........Get ur hands dirty and take ur time! Go rent a car and feel like you've "really" accomplished something.

no they will not reimburse...if u would of went to a honda dealer u would have gotten it done for free if your car has a service bulletin on it...there was quite a few that had the warrantys extened in that body style for the trans and it would have been replaced for free...but now that u have done it your self then u have to pay...sorry but thats life

It sounds more like you need a box of tissue's. The Honda Corporation owes you nothing, why would they? Check your owners manual and see if there is a warranty on your drivetrain at 90 thousand miles. I am quite sure you wont find it.

While Hondas are known to last a long time, if you drive your vehicle harshly, don't maintain the vehicle, then expect parts to fail.

Honda warranty clearly states

They warranty their vehicles from bumper to bumper for 3 years or 36K miles which ever comes first.

They warranty the power train for 5 years or 60K miles which ever comes up first.

Honda has given you everything they promise per their warranty. Why would they reimburse you?

And I thought only domestic cars broke down! Hmmm, so they don't run forever.
