There are a ton of rising stars and young potential in baseball right now. Guys who have only been in the show for three or four years or even less. But who out of all of them is going to end up being the best, the most remembered, the most respected? Wright, Howard, Reyes, Utley, Zimmerman, Longoria, Hamels, Verlander, Street, Bay? Other?

that's very hard to answer, there was so many elite young players in 06, Papelbon, Liriano, Jared Weaver, Howard & Utley, Reyes & Wright, and Verlander & Zumaya, but I'd pick Verlander if I had to go with 1 guy I think if he stays healthy he could even end up bein as good as Johan Santana and Roger Clemens, we'll see
but I'd pick Verlander as best young star with the best future
(the 1st answer given made no sense saying Jermaine Dye, cause for main reason he's like 33 years old, and this question is what YOUNG guy has brightest future, and he has never been any GREAT player, solid but no all star)

Nice question. I am going to go off the board so to speak and take a risk. Keep an eye on Andrew Miller of the Detroit Tigers. He was a stand-out University of North Carolina left-handed starting pitcher. He is big, strong and he can accurately bring it at 96 MPH for 7 innings plus. His slider is considered devastating. Here is the rub. He really does not have a third or forth pitch. Heck, neither does Jeremy Bonderman and look what a year he had.
Sure, if you want a current player to pull from, you can find a few that have great potential if they stay healthy. Picking up-start players is where General Mangers make their money. I’m not a GM but would it not be nice to be one?

There are a few guys on that list. I think Verlander, Wright, and Howard will all be in the HOF some day. Utley will be remember as a great player but those other guys I dont think are that great.

Wright and Reyes will most definitely be major stars and lead the Mets to more World Series Championships in the next 10 years than the franchise has won in its previous 45 years! Let's Go Mets!

Ryan Howard is going to turn in a very solid career. And I think that most baseball fans will be talking about what a pity it was that he was stuck behind Jim Thome for so long, and didn't really get a chance to show what he could do until he was 27.
(Which just goes to show that...sometimes...just pure bad luck can prevent a player from getting a chance...)
I also think that Jeff Francoeur should develop into a fine player...if the Braves will just leave him alone and not obsess about him striking out a lot.

As I mentioned in a previous answer, I would say that Alex Gordon of the Kansas City Royals has the potential to become a very special player. He was the Golden Spikes winner in 2005, and his minor league/college stats suggest he will be, dare I say, the next Geroge Brett. Even if he doesn't meet those lofty expectations, being the next Kevin Seitzer isn't so bad, either.

David Wright and Jose Reyes. Those two will be the faces of the game in a couple of years and will lead New York to a championship or two in their careers.

Felix Hernandez. There's so much good talent right now but Felix has a chance to get a CY Young award at 21 years old. I know it's very unlikely, but think about it, he could have twenty more good years in front of him. I think he'll end up throwing pretty hard in the future. He could even lead the Mariners to their first World Series! Then he would be repected.

Several of them have big upsides... believe it or not, there are 2 or 3 in Kansas City. Mark Teahen had a good second half of 2006, plus farmhands Alex Gordon and Billy Butler are rated amongst the top minor leaguers.

David Wright, for sure. If last years performance as a closer translates into the rotation, and he stays healthy, Papelbon could be insane. Wang will also be one to watch. K-Rod is going to go down as one of the dominant closers.
