It is cheaper to drill for oil in Arab countries than get it from Canadian oil sands. But it is profitable to get Canadian oil now, Alberta is booming. But your understanding of how much oil there is is wrong. Canadian oil sands are second to Saudi Arabia, ANWAR is said to have at most 16 billion barrels. At most, it would last 32 years.

Maybe we are saving the best for last? I think the US will do more exploration. However, in Alaska it is extremely difficult right now, from what I've heard. They would have a very hard time drilling right now with the volcanic and earthquake activity going on there. Of course we do have other areas in which to drill.
One example is a neighborhood where my mom and dad used to live. The exploration company found a huge gas well and they were confident if there was gas, there was also oil. They wanted to drill for oil, but the majority of the residents said absolutely not. The reason they gave is that it would be too noisey and run down a neighborhood. I'm still receiving very tiny checks from the exploration company (my mother kept the mineral rights after she sold the house when my dad passed away). I only wish I had that house back because I would have let them drill in my front yard if they wanted to as my parents had the huge corner lot facing the main road before entering the subdivision. Then I wouldn't even have to think about finding a job. But this is an issue with some people. Who care if there's an oil well in the front or back yard. Once the drilling is over, the pump is put in and a person can put a little fence around it with flowers. That was a really silly reason for people to pass up the oil and the $$. Now, the gas pressure is almost gone, and even if they did drill, it's doubtful there would even be enough pressure left to even bring it to the top; and 2. the neighborhood is still against the idea, yet they all complain about foreign oil. Go figure that attitude.

We actually get a lot of oil from American deposits. But if you pay attention to the news at all, you would know that quite a few oil drilling stations were destroyed in hurricanes in the gulf of mexico, which is why we have to buy more from the arabs. The liberals seriously need to get over themselves though and just let us drill in alaska because the deer aren't gonna care that much.

"total continent"? you're questioning too small. there is an finished sunlight up there, purely waiting to potential our stuff. and that i disagree that "we cant purely watch for yet another potential source," as you assert. I grew up attending to understand about image voltaic potential (and ethanol) in hardship-free college. Now i'm thirty. it really is not new technologies. I took a visit as a lot as Canada in 1997 and there grow to be Ethanol accessible at each gas station we went to. we do not decide on a clean potential source. we decide on to be better responsible and valuable with the potential aspects that we've. good day, i'm in touch by killing fish and destroying coral reefs if actual mandatory, have self assurance me. If that is a call between them and me, no doubt, enable's drill. yet no, i'm not tender destroying those issues at the same time as there exist completely proper possibilities to unnecessarily tampering with the ambience(s). Your boy McCain needs to construct better nuclear potential plants to sparkling up the issue. NUCLEAR FR*CKIN potential plants. So, who's "retarted"?

First and foremost - our governments do NOT control the oil companies. Companies are driven by greed and profit. If it is more profitable for me to pay another country for oil than it is to pump my own, that is what I am going to do.
If it costs me $60 a barrel to buy from Saudi Arabia, and $75 a barrel to pump my own, then I'll save the $15 bucks.
Only when it costs me more to buy from the Saudis, and less to pump my own, will I even consider doing that.
It's a good system that keeps costs down for the consumer.

Look at Anwar. Look at the policies from the left that PREVENT drilling. we don't drill because many on the left will not allow it.
