The guy is young, a workhorse, wants to stay inToronto, and has stated he will take less money to stay. He lives and breathes toronto, and is evolving into a bonafide leader on the ice. Thoughts?

Absolutely JFJ would be nuts....especially now that they're hot and within 4 points of 4th place! Tucker is a guy 29 other teams would simply love to have guys like him are few and far between.....this injury may just benefit in the slightest way that when he comes back his body will be fresh and not all banged up as usual as he will be a key component as they go down the stretch where every point is so important...wellwood will be another key addition and talks out of toronto are peca will be back before seasons end which is another huge boost....go leafs go!

No absolutely not. I do not see Sundin and Tucker traded to the same team. However I do see that Pittsburg does have alot of room to go after some people that can help them this year. Sundin will be in Toronto for another month and until the trade deadline. Toronto knows what they have in Sundin and several other players on the shopping block. Unless they can a really good offer now, they will stay in Toronto to the last day. But then again no one is accusing Toronto's management of being any good of late. Hey, maybe they should be traded. {or just fired}.

Well said by many. TRADE Tucker while he is still worth some value. It would be smart for the Leafs to trade Tucker away and get some young talent. If Tucker really wants to return in the off-season, he can then sign with the Leafs, with a paycut, of course. So in the end, it would be a gain for Toronto. You can't go wrong with young talent, look at the Pens.

The Maple Leafs would be SMART to trade Darcy Tucker. He is going to be 32 years old (on March 15), and his current stats (19 goals, 12 assists, 31 points in 39 games) suggest a spike due to his current contract status. Tucker is vauled by the Leafs as an "energy" player, but nothing more to a contending NHL team. The Leafs will likely overspend for him because of what he means in the locker room, but I cannot forsee another team spending an obscene amount of money on a player who has not had a season of more than 61 points. At best, the Leafs will get a draft pick and a fringe prospect for Tucker, then re-sign him in the offseason.

I love Tucker but even I see the value in trading him. Edmonton and Calgary are both extremely interested in him, and at this point with the numbers he has put up, the Leafs can get some value out of him.

I heard a rumour that Bertuzzi is "itching to sign with Toronto" in the summer. Free the cap room for him

4 points out of 4th! Sens suck and aren't going to make it.

He's a great player, no doubt, but he's not that young (31). The Leafs are playing well right now, but a long drought between Cups calls for big changes.

Yes Tucker is awesome. He is a grinder who can score and even though he drops like a fly anytime someone touches him that's pretty valuable to draw penalties. He is valuable on the powerplay because he is strong down low and gets into good position.

NO, let him go, they can still get some value for him. Another year and suckee baby will be all done. Yes he is good in the dressing room, if that is what the leafs want, give him an asst. trainer job. As for the team itself, oh well, come spring, the leafs are out.

He's scored 19 goals (2nd highest on team) but has a -13 +/- rating (worst on team).

He's worth more off the ice than he is on the ice.

Trade him for someone more reliable.

Okay, I've been out for a few hours....they traded him?! Or are they thinking of trading him? If they are, they better get someone good like Forsberg (obviously add a couple of guys and/or draft pick with that). For Simon Gagne, maybe?
