What are ways that I can prevent holes from appearing in my socks?

I hate buying a pack of socks and then after 2-3 weeks, they get holes in them and then I have to buy new ones. Is there differing brand quality or what? I buy my socks at Ross or TJ Maxx.

Make sure your socks are big enough for you, and keep your toenails short.

Get a pair of house shoes. Get better socks.

I've got ancient nails in an ancient hard wood floor. I get snags here and there, but no holes.
