You sound like a smart person and probably have a good take on the situation, but sadly logical thought has no place in this. It will just hurt until it hurts less, depending on the depth of your attachment. There is no quick way that doesn't involve brain damage.
All you can do is keep yourself busy - distractions, and live your life, meet new people. Become yourself again.
And I believe as well that if a man does really want and love a woman he will do anything/go to her....Harsh, but a true test. I still have feelings sometimes for a man I loved disproportionately. I realized the same as you that he didn't really love me.

What you are talking about sounds like you rationally know you need to let go, but your sub-conscious isn't going along with you. Does this sound right? I can give you a couple of ways I have to get my sub-con to see things my way. First treat it like an equal not a child. SHOW it the reasons why what it is doing HURTS you and it. Every time you see reasons why it COULD have rewards, but this is in the way, show it that too. Talk to it in your head as if you are its close and trusted friend and you respect it, but its making a BIG MISTAKE. Also treat the situation like a bad habit you are trying to get rid of. Don't give yourself any trash for backsliding, but do pat yourself on the back for every second you spend doing good. Replace the bad habit with something else, I don't necessarily mean get another guy, but don't allow yourself to spend time doing things that keep you in his habits. For a while concentrate on the things you like to do that he DIDN'T. Avoid the situations that remind you of him,,, possibly except the bad times, try it and see. Well I hope at least some of this helps. Good Luck, forgetting him, and Good Luck finding someone better for you.

The quickest way to forget about someone is to focus on someone else. Whether that be a new eye-candy or basically yourself. If you're not the type of person to jump from guy to guy to guy than focus on improving you. Do things/hobbies that make YOU happy. Or get a new makeover. You'll see how of little interest this other guy will be to you within time.
Good luck!

Pain and loss are a part of life. You will grieve for a while, we do this to heal. Then get on with your life. This was a learning experience. Good judgement comes from experience. Most experience comes from bad judgement. The way of the world.

Well if he doesn't love you, you can't keep grieving on it and pretending that he does love you. You have to block him out completly and doin't think about him, keep your mind occupied on something else, and if that doesn't work try, start talking to other guys on a regular basis just as friends, and becomming more friendly with other guys in general maybe you will find someone else that way.

Good luck. I think letting time go by will help get rid of some of the pain. You now have the opportunity to meet other men.

channel your thoughts in other directions... find something that interests ..re route your brain towards this ... and don't live in the past.. live in the NOW..
sounds simple but its not... its a skill .. but it gets easier..
... the quote below makes me smile.. whenever I get a bit melancholy for times and people gone..
"Memories are like mulligatawny soup in a cheap restaurant. It is best not to stir them."........... P G Wodehouse
I never did like mulligatawny.. prefer Heinz Tomato...!!!! LAUGH ...and forget ... be happy...
