We had large dogs and went with cremation - burying a large dog is a difficult task and I wanted no chance that their remains would be disturbed by other animals (we live in a rural area). Then we did bury their ashes in our yard and bought memorial rocks with their names on them.

For our small dog, we burried her under the deck where she would always sit to be in the shade but close enough to watch the kids playing. She died suddenly one summer afternoon.

We had our large dog cremated. The vet service was very sweet and gave us a ceramic paw print because she had to be put down due to a stroke. This was in the fall time. We then burried the ashes with the first dog so they could be together.

i'm sorry for your loss. i have lost several pets in my young life so far. Buddy, my golden retriever, Spunky the hamster, Chippy the hamster, and quite a few dead fish. the fish just get the "flush" trip, but i cremate my other lost pets. I have urns for them. I keep the urns around the house, with a picture of the pet beside them. when i die, i will bury all of my pets with me. i like that idea.

hope this helps and i am sorry for your loss.

We buried our dog and our cat in the back yard and put a stone wall around them with a flower garden on top. I can go there as often as i want to talk to them and think of all the good times we had.

I burried almost 2 litters of bunnies out side. Most were under a little tree so in a way they would help the tree grow. Circle of life kinda thing. It was really hard but it went ok.

Our family cemetery is on our land.
It is private and we are allowed to
bury our pets also.
I have a parrot and 4 dogs there.
I wouldn't want to be in Heaven without them.

I have always used back yard burials, except one time my German Shepard had cancer and I had to have her put sleep and it was winter time so I had her cremated. She sits on my shelf with her picture and a red rose.

It depends on the pet. You are not allowed to bury anything larger then a cat in your yard.
