Black history month is just another slap in the face to other groups who have worked hard and contributed largely to America. Yes, technically there is hispanic, asian history month ect. but BHM is just another opportunity for blacks to kiss themselves.

What the hell are you talking about? All people originated from Africa and they migrated. And besides there is a Hispanic/Native American History Month in September and a Asian History month in May. They aren't promoted like Black history month. And besides, Black history is everyone's history it's not just excluded to one ethnic group. Why does there need to be a white history month? We talk about "white history" everyday in my history class.

Other races do have a month, but it just isnt widely publicized like black history month. Or it's possible that ppl just don't care. You should think about what is it about black history month that makes you so angry... do you still wish black people were slaves? Do you feel that black people have not undergone years of trauma and still overcame by contributing things to this society that you use today.
Just b/c you dont share the same belif doesnt make it ok to be disrespectful about it. You can state your opinion without making reference to a celebration of a culture as a "joke".- or asking what's the big deal about the I had a Dream speech.
Learn to be tactful.

Gangs, looting, exponential crime rate, neighborhoods trashed, welfare, section 8, etc. etc. That's what immediately comes to mind when thinking of black history month. That's an honest opinion which everyone is entitled to even though ones sliwlh losing that right. If it's not group speak then it's wrong

actually there is a Latino Heritage Month and thats on September. its not that popular because it doesnt get recognition but im not sure if there is a euro or asian heritage month. anyways black history month to me is not a joke because it shows how african americans have greatly impacted american society and culture even though they had the odds stacked against them.

I think it's silly that you put down something just because you find that you can't relate to it. American History Month is in November, did you know that? Will you complain about that, too?

They do have other history months for other ethnicities - do some research before making a 'stand'. I'm not saying I agree with it either, but you're wrong here.

it is important! the history is important, and there are asian american months and hispanic american months, native american months and even irish american months i think, but they are not as official or as popular as black history month, so that could be changed i think. But its not worth even explaining to you if you cant understand why black history is important.
