Fav's are old Hitchcock ones like Psycho, and The Birds.
I love Exorcist too.
Kills for me would have to be when movies, usually new ones, are more focused on blood and guts than an actually interesting storyline.

The Exorcist was good but now it is laughable. I do not believe in that demonic fairytale stuff. The Shining is good or the Evil Dead. I like the Night of the Living Dead too. Movies do not scare me anymore since I have seen much more in real life. I have seen some horrible things and when I see movies I can tell you they do not cut even close to the horrible realities of life. I think scary movies have shifted from the psychology of the film to the gore of the film. I have seen alot of real gore so it is not scary but can be depressing or good in that it makes you thankful you are not in the condition of the things you see. Scary doesn't work for me anymore but I do enjoy some old classic horror movies in that it brings back memories of all the things I used to be afraid of. I have a ghost in my home and I am not afraid. I challenge it by saying. You wuss, you can do better than that. My ghost rattles things and throws things down now and then. Not scary just annoying. Ghosts are a pain in the butt. You always have to clean up after them. Punks, each and everyone of them. I have been told by some Christian friends that the things going on in my home are a sign of demonic activity but I laugh at that notion. These things are just unexplainable and I ain't going anywhere because of some annoying phenomena. I have been putting up with it for a while. If it is demonic then demons are sissies I can tell you that. woooooooooooooooooo

My favourite is Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock.
I hate all the new horror films. What can kill a horror film in my opinion is having a supernatural and totally unbelieveable plot so you just end up laughing about the whole thing because it's so stupid, instead of finding it scary.

The scariest movie ever was Shrek 2 I shudder in absolute fear over the release of the Third. What can kill a scary movie -- of course -- the bad guy who else?

Jacob's Ladder. And I have to agree, music is huge in scary movies. Most to all horror films aren't even scary but I may jump due to a blast of loud music in it.

I love The Shining by Stanely Kubrick. I hate when people make scary movies that just copy other scary movies, people need to come up with their own ideas.

The best scary movie is The Blair Witch Project. I felt real.
The only thing that can kill a scary movie are cheesy comments, and lame acting. And all the stereotypical characters. (the brave woman, the child who always see's monsters but never gets scared, the rebel dude who gets killed, the hero who has doubts but somehow ends up alive at the end of the movie, and the whore/slut).
