Personally I think they all really died on the plane. And are in limbo because they weren't good enough to go to heaven, but didn't do things on their past bad enough to go to hell. But I have missed the second season, so we are going to rent it... Who knows? Maybe I'll think differently after seeing it... What do you think of my opinion? Do you agree? What is yours?

I thought it was a purgatory situation, but I heard that the creators insist that it's not. It seems like another dimension that was created through magnetism. Remember last season with Penny and the crew looking for changes at the arctic center?

Who knows. Can't wait to see more developments tongiht.

I think you're definitely onto something. The show is pretty obviously a commentary on the religious dogma (or lack of it) in society today.
Even the experiment known as the Dharma Project is highly based on blind faith and resulting madness. I haven't watched all of the episodes either, but this is what I have seen so far. It's interesting, I like it.

i also thought they died on the plane. there seemed to be too many coincidences and supernatural events... it's kind of hard to believe anyone would survive a plane crash like that, let alone that many survivors.
i thought that is the reason for the name of the series... their souls are "lost".

The Lost producers have repeatedly said that the characters are all alive and that they are not in purgatory.
