as soon as we give up an inch of liberty we are no longer free.

Good question.. well put. What the hell good is safety if you don't have the freedom to enjoy it.
Look at the poor Iraqis, they are told they have the freedom to vote but they haven't got any safety to enjoy these alleged freedoms. The problem with America is that too many people have become too complacent.
My history tells me that Freedom comes before all.
The Freedom of Free speech, the freedom of association, the freedom to travel without fear or favor.. The Freedom to be FREE.
Wake up AMERICA.. WAKE UP.

There's not really any point defending 'freedom' if it starts to mean that your liberties are being infringed upon in unfair ways. For example the government should not be spying on the public, how is that freedom.

Absolutely not. We cease to be a free society when we restrict freedom in the name of safety.

No. I could stay in my house all day and be 100% safe, but the premise is stupid. So is the premise of fighting to preserve our freedoms while taking them away.

I am willing to lose NONE of my personal liberties in the name of security. The moment our liberty is lost, then the need to protect our country is meaningless.

I believe that would be non-citizens, undocumented aliens, and your basic dirt bags. I don't see either of these (PA or DAA) impacting my life in the slightest other than longer lines in security at the airport. Security there should have been beefed up a long time ago.

I am absolutely willing to do so. The rights of society are more important than the rights of the individual.
Further, I don't particularly care about Franklin's take on the subject. Franklin's America wasn't faced with the types of threats we are today.
