Change your spark plugs and get some Iridium or platinum spark plugs from NGK or Bosch. Then you wont have to change them till 100,000 miles.
They have alot of technology in sparkplugs today. They last forever. So there is really no "SET" time you should change your plugs. Go by what kind you have. If you want to get some honda spark plugs they will probably give you a newer kind that will last a good while
I have an 06 Honda Civic Si. And I dont have to change mine untill 100,000 miles.

OK. i will tell you how a spark plug works. it works as it arc a spark from the electrobe to the tip. this distance is called the gap. different vehicles and differnent engines run different gaps. over time the gap will get higher and higher. as it gets too high when it tries to arc it cannot achieve this and this is when you will lose fuel efficiency and even have a miss fire. And if i was in your shoes this is what i would do. first i would pull out the spark plugs. check to see if it is good or bad. a good spark plug will have a nice white burn at the tip and will not have any oily buildup at the end. if it is all good. check the gap. gap it back to factory specs and reinstall it. keep tabs on your fuel consumption. and if u need to replace it, replace it with NGK. don't get that bosch crap. they are not good in import engines. just get the recomended ngk plugs and you will enjoy the life and fuel economy of your engine for a long time.. i hope this helps..

Honda's of that vintage use resistor type spark plugs with a recommended replacement interval of 30,000 miles. I'm guessing in 8 years they have more use than that. Worn spark plugs make for weaker spark which makes for less efficient burning of fuel which leads to lower gas mileage and increased wear and tear on other ignition parts like the coil.
Yeah, its a good idea to change those out.

The spark plugs should be replaced at 18,000 miles on most cars with electronic ignition, the newer models say up to 50K miles but don't Waite that long either, Best to replace them and don't forget to gap them and use Honda parts for best results.
