Oh, yeah... I remember Undertaker's NCAA Division 1 freestyle wrestling days in U of Minnesota, when he faced Ohio State's all-american freestyle wrestler Kane in a cage match. Duuurrr...

Man, some of you people crack me up!

There's only been a handful of guys in the WWE, during Kurt Angle's days, that had extensive freestyle wrestling experience. Of them, I think Brock Lesnar (an NCAA D1 heavyweight freestyle wrestling champ) was the most skilled.

That said, Brock's D1 championship in 2000 (he also placed second in 1999) pales in comparison to Kurt Angle's amateur accomplishments - Olympic gold medal, NCAA D1 champ, 3 time NCAA D1 All-American, USA Junior Freestyle champion, 2 time USA Senior Freestyle champion, and International Junior World Freestyle champion.

They even had some "friendly matches" and Kurt was able to get the better of Brock (and they were both able to get the better on Paul "Big Show" Wight).

Definitely Chris Benoit! Specifically their match at Wrestlemania 17 (Which was basically nothing but a freestyle mat match the entire match. If you haven't seen it watch it.), their 30 Minute Submission Match they had at Backlash in 2001 (which is in my top ten favorite matches of all time), and the WWE Championship they had against each other at the 2003 Royal Rumble (after the match they both got a standing ovation from everyone in the crowd which is a rarity in pro wrestling matches). In mostly all of their matches both of them relied on alot of freestyle wrestling moves to get the advantage over the other. Chris Benoit has been wrestling since he was 8 or 10 and knows very well how to freestyle wrestle. In fact, Kurt Angle has once said that Benoit could have very easily gone very far in freestyle wrestling. I hope that answers your question.

In freestyle wrestling in wrestling history, I would have to say Kurt Henning, Lue Thess, Ken Petara, Kevin Von Eric, Ivan Putski, the old version of ECW Chris Benoit, and the last is the best in the business of all times, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and when SCSA was in ECW he was known as the Ring Master. He will give Kurt Angle the best run of them all!!

Brock Lesnar, of course.

Shelton Benjamin was also a pretty good NCAA wrestler - Same school as Brock. Still, he's not as decorated as Brock was.

Lashley has a pretty nice freestyle wrestling record, but he wasn't part of the active WWE roster when Kurt was wrestling.

are u people crazy!?!? Benoit and Angle were the best performances. All of the fans were on their feet for the entire match. All of the reversals and finisher attempts and locks that were in the match were unbelievable. I am shocked that no one has said Benoit some of you should be ashamed to call yourselves "fans."
