So now this former NBA player (Aeomichi)has "come out" and has written a book. Should we care? Do you buy these books?

Celebrities are pretty much empty-headed vacous spoiled people, so, no, I have as much interest in reading their "tell all" books as I would in reading a piece of used toilet paper. The people who SHOULD be writing the books, the ones with interesting, worthwhile lives, are usually too busy doing constructive stuff to parade themselves in a literary show window.

I don't keep a list of what I've read (I lack the discipline to keep any list updated). I don't think I've read as many as you though. I've been reading vampire stories since 1990. My favorite series is the Vampire Chronicles. If you haven't tried Lynn Viehl yet, go for it. I think you will really like it. The series is called The Darkyn. She just had the last book in the series published a couple of months ago and is now launching a spin-off series titled The Kindred. She's really good. I don't see a few others I've liked. However, I can't access your full list, so maybe you have them there. Oh, and quite a bunch of what you have listed here is urban fantasy not romance. Some examples: Patricia Briggs, L.A. Banks, Charlaine Harris, Laurel K. Hamilton, and a few others fall into that category. Anne Rice doesn't write either urban fantasy or romance. If you classify by genre as well, you may want to start researching.

Naw. I won't and don't. And it's not just the books that are written,(and everyone knows the celebrities don't write them, they're ghostwritten), but it's the tabloid newspapers and the idiotic shows on TV which exist to tell all about every little move someone makes. Billion dollar cottage industries, created by and supported by the media to feed morbid curiosity. But SOMEBODY is buying those books since they sell so many of them. Everyone on this site who has answered this question is among the smart ones. Good for us. There are journalist celebrities like George Will and Tom Brokaw and David McCullough who write excellent books. I guess you need to know your source.

I don't read them, buy them, nor keep track of who even writes them. Basically I don't care about these books and don't have an interest to read them. If I did, I'd go to the public library and check it out. That way I could save myself the money. But I almost bought Bill Clinton's autobiography but decided not to because I'm too poor to be buying books that I'll never read or use.

Nope. Remember that most celebrities are good at only one thing, being a celebrity. Think Britney for a worst case example. The folks who are worth listening to, like Arnold and Bill Cosby, are few and far between.

I wouldnt PAY to read any of that crap. However, I might go check the book out from the library if it was by one of the few celebrities that I actually care about.

Why would you care about anyone else's private life other than your own.

All you do is make these people richer at the expense of your own pocketbook.

A history book or a good literary classic enriches your mind and is worth the investment.

Personally, no and pretty much, "who cares?".
What impressed me was you actually constructed a complete and correctly spelled query. God love ya. My faith that written English is not dead has been restored. Have a lovely day. Ge blessed.
