I don't really think it matters. I'm so tired of my friends telling me about someone, and the first thing they say is "He's gay." That doesn't define someone. The fact that someone is gay tells me nothing about his or her personality, and I'm sick of people acting like it does.

When an interviewer asked Alan Cumming if he was bisexual, Alan looked directly at him and asked "Why? Do you want to sleep with me?".
That's one of my favorite things to tell people, because yes, it really doesn't matter that much unless sex, romance, and a potential relationship is on the brain.
However, we do live in a heteronormative world where GLBT people are marginalized and made invisible, and until the world comes to the point where we don't follow the mandate of "straight until proven gay/bisexual", I see no problem in telling others about your sexual orientation as a source of pride and refusal to feel shame or be relegated to the sidelines, or in asking someone in order to better understand them, since oftentimes being gay is an identity and a culture that extends beyond just what happens in your bedroom.
Hope that helps!

Being straight or gay is not just about sex. Its a life style, a mentality, a mind set, a way of dressing, a way of talking, a way of acting. Gay people and straight people are in no way identical. As a woman if I talk about how cute the mail delivery woman was, my coworkers will wonder "what the -uck", better to tell people than let them be surprised. Better for me anyway to be myself my true self than to watch what I say or do around others for fear that they will find me out...That I'm not your 'normal' everyday girl......

I agree that all people should have equal rights, no matter what their sexual orientation is.
However, that is not the situation in the US today, where there is blatent discrimination in the STATE-given rights associated with marriage.
I certainly am not going to discuss aspects of my sex life with you - it is none of your business. But you need to know that fellow citizens are being mistreated and not given the same rights as others, just because they are LGBT.

If a heterosexual's sexual orientation isn't "an difficulty", then you absolutely shouldn't ought to flaunt your heterosexuality in public places the position your people can see necking and often times petting; and also you shouldn't ought to flaunt your heterosexuality in church homes, in action picture theaters, walking down the line, in videos, on television commercials, in mag commercials, on the covers of magazines, and all the thousands of techniques your people flaunt your heterosexuality each and each days of your lives at the same time as complaining at the same time as my same-sex major different walk hand in hand down the line. Now, you purely have your self a stunning-duper, better-particular, Marvie-doo Gardens form of day with lemon drops and lollipops and massive, bright, gay rainbows all tied up with sunshine, Suzanne!

No, it doesn't matter. The people that are so fascinated with other people's lifestyle are mostly the christians that don't think its right which is really none of their business.

No, it doesn't matter, and thank you for pointing it out. Love is all that matters and civil rights are for everybody. Now can we all get back to our lives?

Unfortunately, lots of people like to point out what makes us different rather than what makes us alike.
