I think he may well be the third best
1. Dan Marino
2. Fran Tarkenton
3. Peyton
Now, football is a team game, probably one of the games where teammates mean a lot more than most other sports. If one player doesn't do their job, the play sucks. In soccer, you need one guy to score, In baseball, you need a good pitcher and you should be set, in basketball, teams are turned around with ONE good player. I don't understand how quarterbacks are judged by the amount of championships. They do their job and that's how they should be judged. I always use this when people say Marino isn't the best ever. The Jets game that the Fins lost 49-48. Marino could have not possibly lost that game. It was his defenses fault. If you put Marino on the niners when montana was there, you get championships. Peyton is a lot like Marino. He has a good arm, he thinks well and he does what he needs to. This year the Colts finally stiffened up on defense and what do you know he wins it. The people that think the greatest are the ones with championships are the ones who now agree he's the greatest. I understand stats mean nothing and your goal is to win, but if your team doesn't help you win, then you deserve to be called the best if you really are.

You do the research of every QB after 9 seasons and you'll find Peyton has the best #'s of anyone. Oh yeah and he won the superbowl. Sure Montana, Bradshaw, Marino, all good. But the #'s don't lie. No quarterback has ever changed the way a Defense plays more than Peyton Manning. And he still has 8 to 10 years left.

I would have to say that Peyton is definately the best QB of Super Bowl 41. I will also say that he is probably the best of the 2006 season. Look at his numbers over the past 8 years, plus his 7 Pro Bowl selections during that time, and then now 8 awards (NFL MVP twice, Bert Bell Award twice, NFL Offensive POY, Walter Payton Award, Pro & Super Bowl MVP) won during those years. These things show that he is one of the best QB during his career.
I do NOT think he is best ever. He will have to keep up those numbers and win a couple more Bowls to gain that distinction. Just like LT is not yet the best RB of all time. They are both incredibly talented, but are both still young and have a lot of football yet to go.

You're from Tennessee, which means that you're probably frustrated with his inability to win the big game in college. He's gotten over the hump in the NFL, and will be remembered as a great NFL QB, not a great college QB.
It's tough to discuss the best QB ever, but Manning has to be in the conversation. In short, he's Marino with a ring. He has a near-omniscient ability to see the whole field and find the open guy, and the excellent accuracy to deliver the ball in the perfect spot. He commands the playbook with ease, and his ability to call the perfect play against the shown defense pays dividends. He's on pace to beat all the regular-season records on the books, and with his near-perfect health, it's hard to not see him doing that.
As a guy who likes defense, it's absolutely frustrating to watch him play. That's usually the mark of a great QB.

It is impossible for Peyton Manning to be the best QB ever for two reasons. First of all he has not been in the league long enough. I was worried that if he won the super bowl talk would begin about him being the best ever and I guess I was right...Besides, Brett Favre is the best QB ever.

He's not the best right now, but he still has a good 5 or 6 seasons left in him so by the end of his career he might be the best ever.

Nope, he's not the best right now, but by the time he retires, he WILL be remembered as the greatest of all time. Every time he steps on the field he shatters another record, and if he played like that with all the pressure of "not being able to win the big one", just imagine what he's going to do now.

He's the best only to those who don't know any better and jump on band wagons.
Peyton may very well end up with 5 trophies and the HOF, but today, he is the QB on a Superbowl Champion.

I think he is one of the greatest but everyone has an opinion. My greatest QB was Troy Aikman cause he could hit a WR in the numbers when the WR was still running his route. I like Manning cause he throws alot and calls his own shots.

Best QB's of all Time,
Bart Starr,Joe Montana,Brett Farve,John Elway,Dan Marino.
