It is recommended to use a condom because the sperm contains a chemical that can set off labor since the cervix at that point has ripened and in some cases the plug is gone
Some say otherwise but this is what I have heard strongly

it didn't for me, i had sex all the time with my first and had U.T infections all the time.
this time around I haven't as much and haven't had one infection the whole time.
i read somewhere (magazine) that women who don't have sex go into labor a few days before women who have sex (that is throughout the entire pregnancy)
at the very end they say if you have sex you will go into labor, but it is the sperm that contins something, i really don't trust any of it i think it all depends on the womens body and when the baby is ready.

It's one of the things they recommend for trying to induce labor really late in a pregnancy but it's safe to have sex for your entire pregnancy unless otherwise told by your doctor!

i was told when i was 37 weeks and getting miserable to eat some spicy food, walk the block with my honey and go home and get busy and they would guarantee i would go into labor, i went to 42 weeks and had to be induced, so in my opinion sex does not work! but hey try it, it could be fun!

It dosent neccesarily make you go into labor quiker but it could help you dialate. another thing that helps you dialate if your ready to go into labor is playing with you nipples. I know it sounds wierd but its true. When I was pregnant with my daughter my doctor told me to dothat.

It can help if you are getting ready ... sometimes it helps speed things along. As long as your doctor gave his or her OK then go for it. Enjoy. Best of luck and congrats :)

no, it does not. while sperm contains a chemical that is often used to bring on or progress labor, it does not contain enough to make a difference.
