Try a system restore point and go back to before you got the link from your brother and make sure you keep your virus checks up to date and your firewall on.

You must have a virus or spyware. Spybot is a pretty good program. Get a friend to download Spybot and trial versions of good antivirus programs and their updates. Install them into your computer in 'safe mode' if you can, then run their updates and start scanning your computer. Be prepared for the possibility that a clean install (where you delete everything, then reinstall whatever you need) may be necessary... :( and this is a tedious process. Make sure you know that the registration numbers for your programs are available to you and that all your files necessary are backed up on disks. The process to back up emails depend on the email program you use. When you've reinstalled, scan your documents before you put them back in.
This can happen if you go to certain "interesting" web sites. I suggest being picky about which web sites to visit.
Consider the use of firewalls in the future and keep those antivirus programs and antispyware programs updated. Keep in mind that firewalls require some know-how about how to allow specific programs access to the internet.
Good luck and i hope this helps.

Hi kerrianne c (for windows)
You said that you ran a spy-ware check. I guess from that, that you have a free antispyware downloaded from the web. These programs generally don't have real time protection and let the spy-ware in; then you have to scan and delete them. karaya 6 is giving you good advice as windows defender is free and includes this protection. It is also worth buying a decent anti virus like Mc Aphee and set it to download and install updates automatically. Make sure that your windows updates are set to download and install automatically as there are often critical security updates being released. Something that you can try to stop your home page being reset is to let it happen, then go to tools on the menu bar, click on internet options, click on the security tab, click on restricted sites, you will see a long oblong button saying "sites" click on that and a dialog box will appear with the address of the reset site. Click on the add button and exit. Re-open tools, Internet options, general tab, and reset MSN as your home page. Exit Internet connection. Click on start, Internet explorer and see what occurs.

I'd recommend using Ad Adware SE personal as this is meant to be one of the best free computer scanners. It scans your computer and deletes objects you don't need, Whilst scanning it slows the computer down but this cant be helped. Scanning usually takes 15-30 minutes. You can see what the program has found by reading the critical objects... I'll provide a link direct to the website on the source menu. Hope this helps you.

You probably have a very powerful virus there...first check if you have the latest version on your virus scan and if not try to do an upgrade. As far as spyware do the same...I usually find helpful to go over to microsoft.com and find out "downloads" there are tons of helpful stuff there that can keep your computer up to date..try to download the windows defender that is an awsome software to have on your computer...
Hope this helps ;-)

Download and run cwshredder from here:
http://www.trendmicro.com/cwshredder/
This should stop your home page from changing. These types of viruses aren't always found by other virus scanners.
Not sure regarding your msn issues, but try running your virus scanners in safe mode, it should give a deeper scan.

you most definately have a trojan here.
some of them are getting very clever at hiding from most spyware removal tools, but here's a couple i could recommend.
Rogue scanfix. This is a very small program with a brut force uninstaller,it will basically check your registry for anything not norm in the startup and get rid.
The second is quake removal, allthough originally designed to remove the "Quake" trojan it does a darn fine job at getting rid of a ton of others too!
If you have trouble locating these on the net,get back to me and i'll email them ok.

sounds like a mjor virus, i duno if it would work but try restoring factory settings under control panel to before you started getting this stuff, sounds like ur bro had it originally which is why it sent the link to you
the restore factory settings uninstals prgrams youve added since that date so you might lose some stuff, but it might work
good luck!!

Try running smitfraudfix as mentioned on this page in the link below. It fixes things like that. It helped me, and my sister with all of our computer problems.

Yeah that's a virus, attempt scanning your laptop first, if that don't artwork attempt gadget restoration, initiate > upload-ons > gadget kit > gadget restoration > surprisingly immediately forward gadget restoration worked for me as quickly as I had this concern, solid success ;)
