i dont really know what an emo person is i ask all the time and they always tell me its someone who is sad and depressed but why are they called emo if they only have one emotion i thought emo's were emotional people!

honey, people need to get a life on these things because non of these are right except the one that says we cry, act stupid, and blah blah blah. Emo= music. its a lifestyle. its not true that we cut ourselves because HELLO!!! preppy people do that too!!! im emo and i have proof that we do not cut ourselves cuz there is no proof we do! and whoever said Green day & Blink 182 are emo, u r so WRONG!!! they are punk. before any1 writes something like that on this message thingy, do research or ask a REAL EMO person! trust me! Ex. of Emo: My Chemical Romance... they r freakin awesome!!!

I really don't like to put people into classes or into so called box types,but some people say that emo is short for emotional,but then again what teenager wouldn't classed as being emotional some times.My daughter would be classed as Emo by the way she has her hair cut,the way she dresses sometimes and by the music she listens too,but she is far from being depressed,or a wrist cutter which alot of people presume that all so called emo's do to themselves.All my daughters friends would also be classed as emo as well,and they are from being the stereo type that people associate with being emo( the only thing that I don't get with her guy friends is why they like to wear loads of black eye liner,to me they look so much better without it,but then again who am I to judge).My daughter and her friends are a bunch of happy go lucky teenagers and I couldn't ask for a better crowd for my daughter to be friends with and hang out with.

Because they are overly emotional. When they talk about emo it doesn't neccessarily mean a range of emotion but that one or a couple of emotions a played out in greater detail than normally.
Cutters are not neccessarily emo and vice-versa. I have known many preps who were cutters and metalheads as well. I also know emos who don't cut. I know emos who wear no black and I know people who wear all black and aren't emo. To stereotype because of something like a lot of people have done here is wrong.

emo is emotional and really just a way to classify goths/punks/low lifes that are really fun people if u get to know them! they laugh, they cry, they act stupid wen their with friends, but just look different! people are classifying them too much into this small box that they shouldnt be put in because they r normal just a different kind of normal like maybe they think we are weird! just because someone is different, people seem to classify them as EMO which really does mean emotional! PEOPLE NEED TO STOP CUZ THESE KIND OF PEOPLE ARE SOME OF THE NICEST PEOLE U WILL EVER MEET!

When referring to a person's personality and attitude, most definitions of emo hold that an "emo person" is candid about their emotions, sensitive, shy, introverted, broken-hearted, glum, and often quiet.
They're supposed to be the type that usually aren't happy in the sense that normal people are. The can't be preppy cheerleaders, they have to be that sad kid who always gets beat-up or that girl who likes to cut herself. It's kinda stupid and played out if you ask me.

Yes, emo's are emotional people I think they call them emo because they have mixed feelings or mood swings. They're not necciserly goths though
