I want a small dog. Any ideas?

There are so many great small breed dogs. You can go to http://dogbreedinfo.com/ and just browse through the breeds. Or you can take their 'breed selector quiz' And it also have a lot of helpful information for first time dog owners. Once you know what kind of breeds you like you can either start looking for a GOOD breeder, or you can look in your local animal shelters. They have a lot of pure breed dogs, and also a lot of really nice mixed breed dogs. To find dogs who are in shelters in your area you can go to http://www.petfinder.com/ where you can search for a breed, age, size, and gender of dog you want.
When it comes to small dogs, i personally like the smushy faced ones. Like boston terriers, pugs, french bulldogs, english bulldogs, and Pekingese. They seem to be more hardy than other small breeds. Good Luck finding your dog!!!

Get a corgi. They are very cute. A dacshund is cute but hard to potty train. A Jack Russel is hyper and would probably a little much. They are very easy to train. DO NOT GET A LITTLE YIPPER DOG LIKE A CHIUAUA OR MALTESE THEY ARE ANNOYING. But I agree with the shelter people those dogs need a family and the breeders sometimes do inbreeding and the dog could have defects of some kind.

Go to the shelter and find a puppy in need of a good home (also usually like $1000 cheaper then getting it from a breeder). The shelter will help you find a dog that fits your life (age size etc.)

If I were you I would go to your local animal shelter... they have dogs that need homes and they don't cost very much. You should find a dog that there that is perfect for you!

beagles are medium but by far in my opinion the best dogs. definitely check out your shelter
