Part of me wants to wear it because i'm uncomfortable with the acne, but part of me doesn't want to because i'm afraid that that is what is causing the acne, or making it worse. Up until now i've been wearing make-up every day...could that be why my acne is so bad and hasn't cleared up yet?

I totally feel your pain. I too have suffered with acne my whole life. I have read and done everything to prevent acne. It is just fine to wear makeup. If you are using makeup that is oil-free, which most makeup now days is, it will not cause acne. I used to use a concealer stick that I would buy at WalMart that didn't say "oil-free" on it and I was told by a doctor to switch to something else. Now I use a mineral based product that ensures no oil and I have seen improvements. Use products that have salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. It is also important to use a moisturizer so your skin doesn't dry out. That really helped me. Right now I "double wash" my face. First with Cetaphil (you can get it wherever you buy cosmetics) which is an anti-bacterial bar of soap for your face. Second with whatever else I have at the time, right now Noxzema. Then I use an astringent. I am very impressed with Biore triple action astringent. After that, I let it sit on my face for a minute or two and then I use a shine control moisturizer. Then I put my makeup on. This has worked for me, I hope it helps you.

I agree with the people who said to throw away your current makeup. Buy non-comedogenic makeup...that's the kind that won't clog your pores (acne is a clogged pore).
Get a decent facial cleanser and use it faithfully. Twice a day. The cleanser should have no more than 5% salycilic acid (basically peroxide), anymore and it'll dry out your face and make it peel. Truly unattractive. 2% has always done the trick for me. Don't over scrub, though as that could actually make it worse.
And try not to wear makeup unless it's absolutely necessary until your skin has healed.

It could be why your skin is acting up depending on what make up it is. You need to get a make up that is noncomedogenic. It means that it does not clog pores. It is probably better if you do not wear makeup, but I can see why you are uncomfortable. Hopefully you are treating your acne with proactiv or something. Sometimes acne needs to be treated and it is not just makeup causing it.

NO! First of all it can cause a serious infection and second it just makes the acne look worst. If you feel like you need to wear make up go for oil-free and stuff.

okay I know EXACTLY how you feel, and if it bothers you then yes wear the make-up but wear Neutrogena Skin Clearing foundation with Sacilyic Acid in it. Then that will make you face shiney so then use Maybeline Pure Powder...(I think its soold with there Pure Make-Up..) and brush it over all the shiney spots...then once the day is over, wash the make-up off first, then use you acne medication.

I have the Answer to ALL of your Questions!!

Its called Loose Powder Foundation- For one... It doesn't Clog your Pores! & Try using something UNDER the Powder like Differn Gel and then allow it to Dry and then Brush over the Powder.

Honestly Try Bare Minerals... I know it CAN be $$ But just get the Color 1st and then build on that!! :D

Probably not. Though if you do, make sure it is oil free. You can buy this thing from clearasil that is a concealer and an acne medication in one. You can find it with the other clearasil products at the store.

i have the same exact problem. When i wear make up, it looks ok at first, but then my around 3 my make up looks weird and my face looks even worse than when i started. i wear make up to school then i come home and wash my face and treat it by washing it and putting acne medicine on it.

bottom line: wear make-up only when nescessary

Bare-Minerals!
I sware by it.
I have mild acne.
And this stuff is all natural.
My dermatologist said it's the best makeup out there.
It's very expensive.
But it's covers up almost everything and it wont
make you break out.
