I have formed opinions about many users; by their questions, their answers, and the "tone of voice" in which they write. Of course, that doesn't mean that that is how they would be if I ever needed to meet them in person.
Some people who are crude, rude, etc. on here--may be just fine at home, work, school, etc. They're just letting off some steam on here.
Some people who seem like the nicest on earth, may be witches in person. We have no way of knowing this.
So, no matter what you think of someone at this site, beware--they could be just the opposite in "real" life.

Yes it is possible, and quite common. When you hear about someone, your mind will use their personality to make assumptions and guesses on how they look based on people you already know who share the same traits. That is why when you meet someone that you've never seen before but only heard about, they will look different than what you expected them to look like. Also there is nothing wrong with forming opinions, no matter what the reasoning behind it is. It's your mind.

However, by that definition you have already met them.
Reading their comments, answers etc has given you an insight into what they are like. Therefore you have something on which to base an opinion.
It is impossible to have a valid opinion if you've never encountered a person in any form whatsoever. ie a photograph.

I dont know if this ansers your question but when i was about ten years old a friend called a said he was bringing a friend over who he was sure i would like. At the time I had a speach problem where i couldnt pronounce the letter "R" and i immediatly had a dislike for this person becouse i was sure this kid would have the same problem. I turned out to be right, he did have a problem with his "R"s and i didnt like him. In retrospect he seemed like a nice boy.

Yes, when you read something your mind is given messages & natural opinions would be formed. They will be bad or good but if you met the person your opinions may change.
You can also meet a person & think highly of them & sometime later change your opinion.

We can assume we do not like and also as you say have the emotion to 'hate' some people we have and are nevery likely to meet. However, it ends up similar to "never judge a book by its cover". Personally, I tend to either agree with answers or agree to disagree, but I never hate' as it is such a hard word.

I think it's human nature to form some representation to themselves of who another person is, even on the flimsiest 'evidence' or detai
A person is not their behaviour or their comments, they are far more complex than that- their identity is something substantial.
However, as humans with thinking minds, we - the potential opinion formers - can modify our thoughts perhaps deciding instead to keep an open mind.
Good luck! Rob

yes, particular if they are famous and celebrities. however there is a distinction between forming an opinion on that person and making judgments. you cannot judge somebody because of the way he/she looks by what you've read and heard, but you can form an opinion on someone because of what you saw and read. whether that judgement is legitimate and reasonable enough is another matter

Yes if you chat to them online or on the phone or see them on tv.You can even form opinions of people based on what others tell you.
However you may find your opinion was wrong when you meet them for real.

Yes, I think it is possible and I'm sure that we all do it, just that our opinions may not be right. I know what you mean though, I always look at the avatar and kinda think it's that person in the pic. who's asking. But then I think we also reflect part of ourselves in the avatar we choose!
