And if not, can we stop with the constant whispering campaign and insinuations. This is a serious charge to make against an ex-President.

bettysdad, you couldn't be more wrong. They are huddled in the west bank under military occupation to preserve Israel's Jewish majority.

In other words, exactly because of who they are.

sociald - my question wasn't complicated. There is no need to post a bunch of links. Find ONE QUOTE from Carter that proves he's anti-Semitic.

Many conservatives are creating a smear campaign against President Carter, which is similar to the one they have created against President Clinton. It is about creating a different dialog, one where the emphasis is taken off of the real issues at hand, in order to create the illusion of importance.

It has not something to do with taking aspects; it has each little thing to do with historic, political, and psychological honesty. In his e book, he tells many 1/2-truths and outright lies to make it seem that Israel is carefully at fault, even as it really is Israel who fights defensively to guard herself adversarial to terrorists and fascists whose sole objective in existence is to slaughter her human beings. Carter accuses Israel of apartheid and racism, yet Israel helps all electorate from all non secular backgrounds into her politics and lifestyle, even as the PLO and Hamas have both declared that no Jew born after "the Zionist invasion" (1917) may ever be a citizen of "Palestine." Carter receives too a lot credit for Camp David. start up risked his u . s . and Sadat wager his existence on the Camp David accords. Carter in basic terms took the credit. His artwork with Habitat for Humanity is dazzling, yet his anti-Israel and anti-Jewish bias is appalling.

Someone asked, "What is wrong with being an anti-semite"? If you had because of your religion and ethnicity been subjected to the horrors of extermination you would say emphatically anyone who is anti-semite is wrong. Israel has only a fraction of the land offered to them in scripture, and they have given away even part of that. Have they received any praise or understanding for having done so? No. They have neighbors who want to "wipe them off the face of the Earth". The Christian faith comes from the Hebrew writings of Isaiah who prophesied a "son would be given", of Moses who foretold a Messiah would come, Psalms 22 is a word picture of the suffering Messiah. We support this ancient land that once belonged to the Canaanites, and was given to the son of Isaac, Jacob, who in turn had twelve sons making up the tribes of Israel. Only Levi had no inheritance and was to be cared for by the other tribes. Our Savior Jesus Christ was born to Hebrews, and by faith we believe His birth is miraculous and immaculate, that He died on the cross for the sin of the world, and all who place their faith in Him are part of God's family, whether they are Hebrew or Gentile. Our faith says we must love the "least of these", for in so doing we are ministering to Jesus Christ Himself. History has shown that Israel and the Hebrews who make up that nation are his "chosen" people, and whoever harms them without God's permission faces the judgment of God. One day the Earth will be filled with righteousness, and Hebrews will have a place of honor along with the Christians who have loved and served Him. We are not surprised by the world's hatred of the Hebrews, it was prophesied by Jesus Christ. Christians are being persecutied too because of our love for Jesus Christ. I am living in my own last days on Earth having lived for 65 years on this planet. My life was never complete until the day I was "born again". Meeting Jesus Christ through the salvation He so dearly bought with His blood has made me feel complete and whole causing me to love people of all religions, backgrounds, and lifestyles. I am not pleased with some lifestyles, but I believe in loving people so they know when I tell them Jesus loves them they can believe it. Jesus promised to come again and receive us to Himself. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

IMO, Carter did not intentionally make an anti-semitic statement. It was merely a poor phrasing of his idea. If you read the chapter, in context, you can see that what has been inferred is not what he meant.

That said, Carter's ideas, in general, are idiocy. Revel in the fact that this is likely the only time I will ever agree with you.

Simply using the word "apartheid" in the title of his book is virulent anti-semitism designed to inflame anger around the world.

There is no apartheid; there is an occupation until the Arabs decide they no longer need to eliminate Israel. Just as the Allies occupied Germany, Italy and Japan after WW2 until it was determined they no longer posed a threat.

The Arabs are not treated in any way because of their inherent qualities as was the case under South African aoartheid. They are treated the way they are because of WHAT THEY DO.

The entire Israel-Arab problem can be solved ONLY by the Arabs.

Also Carter has already apologized to jewish communities for some of the passages in his book.

--- I don't keep quotes readily available to drop in an answer. but its obvious if you look that its pretty well widespread opinion
about the guy and it isnt one quote but its the overall temper of his book.
