according to espn, they have the 3 top players in the country. They've signed the top two running backs in the class. They still have emmanuel moody, C.J. Gable, and stafon johnson, who were all parade all-americans and are still only sophmores. They just signed the #1 reciever in the country while they still have Patrick turner, vidal hazelton, david ausberry, and jamere holland, who are all high school all americans. Is it just or is it puzzzling that top players would still go their with all the competition at those positions.

It would not surprise me if they did, there are still the allegations about Reggie Bush. I just think that because they are such a huge school and highly influential in the NCAAA that it is hard to prove anything. If they are doing this it will eventually come to the surface, and hopefully they are stripped of their titles. If not than Kudos to Pete Carrol

No they don't pay their players. Bush may have been paid but it was completely outside of the university's awareness.
The truth is teams playing at a high level attract talent.
Is florida paying their players because they also have a tremendous class. Same thing with LSU and Texas.
Winning makes players want to go to the school. The additional plus with USC is you are in the media and entertainment capital of the world.
I imagine the top players go their because they want to be the elite of the elite. If they just wanted to play and no compete they would go to ucla or texas A&M or Purdue. No offense to those schools but the rosters are not daunting for the very skilled.

It's called a National Championship, and USC will probably find a way to utilize their players. It wouldn't surprise me if a few get converted to receivers or defensive backs.
There probably isn't another school that can promise they will be one of the top teams in the Nation year in and year out that offers an environment like Los Angeles.
Also, it's also a possibility that someone out of that group will transfer at some point with so much competition at spots.
And, why should they complain when they are getting a $30,000+ per year education paid for for them? Because that is how much it costs to go there. I know, thats what stopped me from applying.

This is a really bad mock draft. There is no way that the Raiders would ever select a punter in the 1st round, even if they didn't have Shane Lechler. Why would the Redskins draft Clausen when they just traded for McNabb. Dez Bryant a 2nd overall pick?? The Lions have other needs then recievers. I don't see Dez even being in the Top 5 picks. I don't even know who Joe McKnight is. Jason Pierre-Paul should be somewhere between 1-19.

I don't think so. I hate the Trojans since I'm a Bruin but I have to agree with the fact that they have a great football team. The reason they get top players is because of their football program, which is one of the best in the country. Also, believe it or not, playing at USC makes you a "celebrity." USC SUC

For the record I can't stand USC and this is the only time I'll defend them, but they don't have to pay their recruits. Their players get great publicity, an easy schedule, and a great location. It's easier to recruit a player to play in L.A. vs Starksville MS (Miss State) for example. As well they have a great tradition meaning these recruits will enjoy winning seasons in their stay at USC.

its not difficult to get a kid from a small town, middle of no where upbringing, fired up on LA...you spend one weekend in the glitz and glamour that USC shows their recruits (i know from talking to players i knew while attending) and your hooked. promises of fame, recognition, playing on TV every weekend and the huge local media to take your name to national recognition...what 18yr old kid wouldnt want that??? not to mention the last 5 years...the program is proven winner. who doesnt like winning??? even when there are players ahead of you the kids think theyre teh best. and the coaches tell them they have the same opportunity to start as a true freshman as a 5th yr senior does. and caroll lives by that promise. he plays the best player regardless of age or experience. a perfect example of this is Oscar Lua. he was a Sr last year and the def captain. but not a starter. he lost his starting position in fall practice after being named captaini n the spring. the best player always plays. no matter what.
r. bushs situation had nothing to do with USC. that was one private agent in the midst of starting his own firm, trying to get a big name guy. he contacted bush directly and bush made a poor decision. USC had no involvement.

No. USC is a very attractive school to some people. They have a fantastic head coach, the school is in LA, every week they will be on national television. I mean why wouldnt they go there.
