i plan on building my own ship of some kind and i live in wisconsin, i was just wondering if i could sail to the altantic from lake michigan
any help would be greatly appreciated =)

Look at a map! the St. Lawrence Seaway connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic, but I doubt you could navigate from Lake Michigan to the Atlantic in a home made boat... too far and you go thru Canada.

The Great Lakes connect to the Atlantic through the Saint Lawrence River, which flows out of Lake Ontario.

The St. Lawrence River will get you from the lakes to the Atlantic.

Yes. It is connected through the Saint Lawrence Seaway from the Atlatic. Ships need to go through several "locks" while passing through the seaway and from lake to lake due to variations in sea level. I don't know if there are fees or what is involved in using the locks but that is something else you might want to investigate.

Not really. The Saint Lawrence River is the only real connection.
