Out of the ones you mention, I think Windows media is the best. Realplayer is infested with spyware, quiktime is Apples feeble attempt at a player, I aint sure but I think winamp isnt free!

That ultimately depends what you're doing on the player. If you want to synchronize music to a portable device, I feel Windows Media is best. It lets you synchronize by just dragging and dropping an item to the player. Personally, I feel QuickTime is only good for playing files off the Internet, and I don't have RealPlayer installed on my computer. iTunes is great too, but I don't have an iPod, so I can't really synchronize. Plus, the files are protected, so you can't transfer files to different players.

I like windows media player. Realplayer plays the most formats, its the only one that plays both quicktime and windows media.

I think the answers depends on what file types you're using. The best thing to do would probably be to try all of them and see which one you like the best.

Winamp, its un biased, because it doesnt have a company behind it like
Quicktime=apple
Realplayer=real or whatever their company is called now.
windows media player-microsoft

Winamp has always worked real quickly and efficiently with me, and i cant say that about any of the others.

Winamp is able to play almost all music files (includeing illegal files)
so that is a plus. Media player is burdened with tons of DRM, which is not good. i would use quicktime for videos, and Winamp (or itunes) for music.

I like the cross-fade effect in Winamp but the organizational features of WMP are better.

they're all good players
and it also depends on what your computer can handle - some freeze up with the newer versions of a media player
