My partner and I have two house rabbits which are three months old and have formed a real bond with each other. We went to the pet shop for some supplies today and he saw another baby bunny and was determined to buy it but I stopped him. My question is would it be safe to introduce a rabbit so small to an already established group? Or would the younger rabbit be bullied by the two elder ones?

I have two rabbits, a brother and sister, that are very bonded. They were less than a year old at the time I adopted them (they are now 6 1/2).
When I adopted them they were kept separate from all of the other bunnies because of fighting with the others.
However there were many other rabbits that had bonded partners and were fine with other bunnies in the same pen.

I believe the best answers can be found on the House Rabbit Society pages:

Make sure your rabbits are spayed and neutered (unless you want to breed them).
Best of luck with the new brood.

Your two existing rabbits are only 3 months old. They are still babies. They might accept a new companion. But keep in mind that as they get older, they may not all bond together. Sometimes, they only accept one other bunny as a partner, and the third one could end up being shunned or bullied. Unless you are ready to keep them seperate if you have to, don't introduce another bunny to your home. What will you do if they grow up and hate each other (not all rabbits like each other, even if they are raised together.!) Are you ready to put them in seperate rooms? Can you care for 3 and give them equal amounts of attention and love? Dont' rush into getting another one.
Spaying is a must.

rabbits do have a pecking order, i have introduced younger ones to the older ones, and usually ( if they are does, they will work out the problems and be fine, but will usually get into a few harmless fights. males cannot be introduced to each other, the male will kill the other males

You should not put a new rabbit with your older rabbits b/c the older rabbits will bully and maybe even harm the new one.

PS: I own rabbits and when i put a new one with my older ones they bully and even bite the new ones so i have to separate them.
