Zero is a number that stands for nothing. So the question is what is half of nothing. The obvious and correct answer is nothing or 0.

Let 0/2 = y.

Then 0 = 2y

The left hand side is zero only when y = 0.

Any number multiplied by zero is zero.

Therefore y = 0.

Or

0/2 = 0.

I just entered 0 divide by 2 on my calculator (to see if anything clever would come up) and it said the answer was 0. I bet someone on here will have a clever formula to prove me (and my calculator) wrong though.
