That is an impossibility too much depends on currency.

that's actually not that far of a stretch, because the value of money only exist because the people of the world trust their governments. money is nothing but a contract between the people and the governments. The government says this bill is worth this amount and is good everywhere and the people accept this idea. U.S dollar was once based on the gold standard which backed up all the currency with an equal amount of gold, but since we do not follow that anymore, everyone in the world could decide not to believe in money , and it would be worthless. I'm not sure what would happen but i wouldn't like to go back to the barter system where i would have to give away my used stuff to get more used stuff, because that's nothing more than a bad garage sell.

Somebody would invent something that served as money.

Money was created because barter is impractical after a point - trading chickens for a house ends up being a lot of chickens, for example. (And then you have the carpenter wondering what to do with all those chickens.)

Without money, trade on a national scale is impossible; effectively, the world would die.

Actually no, it wouldn't die, people would find something else to barter with and it would in low quantity so that it would be of value. But somehow I do not think money will go out of fashion. :)

what if we all decided that walking upright was wrong and we started crawling?
what if rain turned into juice?
